"MOSTLY AUTUMN: have confirmed that Anne-Marie Helder will be appearing as a special guest on "Heart Full of Sky", joining Angela and Olivia in the studio to add additional vocals. Anne-Marie is a long standing friend of the band and they are absolutely delighted that she will be contributing. More info on their website."

Neal Morse has finished recording his latest prog masterpiece, and sent it off for mixing and mastering. This will be Neal's 4th progressive rock solo release, following the highly acclaimed albums ?, One, and Testimony. The amazing line-up of Mike Portnoy (drums) and Randy George (bass) return on this release, with the addition of special guest Paul Gilbert (Mr. Big) on guitar. Fans of Neal's looking for the ordinary will have to keep looking, though—this one will be full of surprises. Fans of the current Spock's Beard need apply.
The release date for this as-yet untitled album is currently set for March 1, 2007.

" HATFIELD AND THE NORTH: Burning Shed will be releasing Hattitude, the second volume of archive recordings by 1970s experimental UK rock legends Hatfield and the North, on December 6th. The CD archive series was given extra momentum by the discovery of a large collection of previously unheard live tapes, the highlights of which have been personally compiled by the Hatfield musicians. As on the highly popular Hatwise Choice (released in January 2005), the recordings are a mixture of live and studio tracks (including extracts from the band's radio sessions) and feature some hitherto unrecorded compositions. Perhaps the best-loved of the so-called 'Canterbury' bands, Hatfield's music was a unique blend of its four members' ideas and compositions. Hattitude reflects this rich diversity, combining the dreamy lyrical songs of Richard Sinclair, Phil Miller's intricate jazz-tinged melodies, Dave Stewart's complex instrumentals and the free-flowing compositions of Pip Pyle, which include a touching autobiographical song. The written passages are punctuated with extended improvisations in which the band cut loose in a way they never quite managed to do on their 1970s studio albums.
Hattitude gives a rare insight into the band's live performances at a time of rapid musical development, charting their evolution from early gigs (including a notable concert recorded in the swirly psychedelic acoustics of Amsterdam's Paradiso club) through to the more sophisticated arrangements of 1975. En route there are moments of surreal humour and instrumental virtuosity, coupled with instances of sheer sonic savagery which reveal the extent of the madness in Hatfield's method. Virtually all the material is from first generation audio sources which have been digitally restored, ensuring good sound quality throughout.
The CD comes in a full colour Digipak with a 20-page booklet containing archive photos and period artwork. The band history initiated in Hatwise Choice continues with the four musicians recounting behind-the-scenes events, road stories, musical reflections and descriptions of recording their debut album in Oxfordshire's Manor Studios. These personal memoirs provide a detailed chronicle of the events of 1973, a 'year in the life' of a young, talented and exciting British band.
Sadly, the CD follows the recent untimely death of the band's drummer and founder member Pip Pyle, who died in Paris on August 28th 2006. Keyboardist Dave Stewart says: "We are devastated by losing Pip - he was our dear friend, a brilliant drummer and an immensely creative lifelong colleague who I regarded as the driving force of Hatfield. He did a great job compiling the material for our archive CD's and was very keen that we should continue the series, so we are dedicating Hattitude (which contains moments of Pip at his best) to him. The music scene will be a duller place without Pip, but his memory and music will live on."
Hattitude is performed by the classic Hatfield line-up of Phil Miller (guitar), Pip Pyle (drums), Richard Sinclair (bass / vocals) and Dave Stewart (keyboards / tone generators). "

" PORCUPINE TREE: After Adrian Belew and Mikael Åkerfeldt guested on Porcupine Tree's latest album Deadwing, Steve Wilson and co have upped the ante even further. At least, according to Rush fansite Power Windows, which reported that Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson and King Crimson's Robert Fripp will be guesting on the band's next album, currently set for release next April (through Roadrunner in Europe and Atlantic in the US)."... !

" STARCASTLE : ProgRock Records have issued the following press release: The classic and highly respected American progressive rock band, Starcastle, will debut its first album of new material since 1978, Song Of Times, on ProgRock Records. The band had this to say:
"Starcastle is thrilled to join with Shawn Gordon and ProgRock Records in the release of our new work. We see this record as bridging our past and future, and are happy to be aligned with ProgRock, who represent so many fine and vital artists in this continually unfolding genre."
Song of Times includes contributions from all the original members: Gary Strater (bass and vocals), Matt Stewart (guitars and vocals), Steve Tassler (drums, vocals and keyboards), Herb Schildt (keyboards), Steve Hagler (guitar and vocals), and Terry Luttrell (vocals, original REO vocalist)- alongside a number of new players and singers, including current Starcastle vocalist Al Lewis and guitarist Bruce Botts. The record was mastered by Emily Lazar (Bowie, Lou Reed, Moby, etc). The fantastic artwork by Ed Unitsky equals and surpasses the best of progressive rock artwork and packaging.
Starcastle formed in the late 1960’s in Champaign Illinois. They released four records on CBS/Epic Records: Starcastle (1976), Fountains of Light (1976), Citadel (1977), and Real to Reel (1978). Together these records have sold more than a million copies. The middle two albums were produced by Queen/Cars/Darkness producer Roy Thomas Baker.
The band toured extensively into the 80’s, appearing with such artists as Aerosmith, Foreigner, Jethro Tull, Roxy Music, Ted Nugent, Rush, The Guess Who, Gentle Giant, Kansas, ELO, J. Geils, Styx, Peter Frampton, Hot Tuna, Blue Oyster Cult, Santana, Boston, Todd Rundgren, and of all bands - Sha Na Na!
Through a series of adventures and the passing in 2004 of bassist and driving light Gary Strater, this dedicated group of friends and associates have persevered to complete and release Song Of Times through Prog Rock records for shipping in late-January or from your local CD retailer from 13 March 2007, and are now looking forward to the new Starcastle’s headlining appearance April 27th, 2007 at the Rites of Spring Festival in Phoenixville, PA."

" ALAN MORSE: The Spock's Beard guitarist will be releasing his first solo album on InsideOut in April 2007. Four o'clock & Hysteria hasn't become a solo attempt in the literal sense, as the whole lot of the Beards can be found on this long-player too, besides plenty of other guest musicians. For more information check out Alan's MySpace page."
