Finnish melodic power metallers THUNDERSTONE will release their fourth studio album, "Evolution 4.0", on March 14 (except in the U.S., where it will be issued later in the spring). According to the band, the new CD is "a milestone, bringing in more of the heavier stuff that 'Tools of Destruction' already hinted at, but still retaining the landmark melodies of THUNDERSTONE. That's why we thought the title 'Evolution 4.0' best represents where we now stand". Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Roots of Anger", "10,000 Ways", "Swirled", "Down with Me" and "The Source".

THUNDERSTONE is one of a dozen acts that will compete to represent Finland in next year's Eurovision Song Contest, set to take place May 2007 in Helsinki. The band's third full-length album, "Tools of Destruction", was released in the U.S. in June 2005 via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD was mixed at Timo Tolkki's (STRATOVARIUS) Goldenworks studio with producer/guitarist Nino Laurenne.

même analyse et d'ailleurs ça m'a surpris, généralement c'est le contraire

Ils ont eu la sagesse d'arrêter de pomper Stratovarius. C'est devenu plus lourd, plus sombre, et bien plus intéréssant que les speederies sucrées en bois des 2 premiers albums. Ils trouvent leur style, petit à petit.

Le premier album se posait là, dans le genre "Clone sans saveur", quand même.

Il me semble qu'il y a quelques mois ils étaient en lice pour représenter la Finlande à l'Eurovision.

Faudra quand même que je réécoute, j'en suis resté au premier et à leur tournée avec Symphony X (sont toujours morts eux ?) et Strato. C'était pas plus convaincant que sur album.

Pour l'Eurovision, c'est marqué dans le premier message...

J'ai écouté (sur youtube) leur morceau qui est toujours en lice pour l'eurovision, à mon avis ils ont aucune chance.

Le morceau est pas top par contre j'ai été surpris par l'aggressivité du chanteur, je m'attendai à un chanteur typiquement nordique, sans hargne. J'éciuterais cet album.

Ouais ok , mais je crois qu'il y a eu de la sélection entre temps. J'avoue ne pas avoir trop suivi.

Rantanen est plus intéréssant que beaucoup de chanteurs speed mélo finlandais. Il a un timbre assez rauque, particularité qui s'est amplifiée d'album en album, et il monte moins haut qu'un Kotipelto (il a essayé sur le premier album, mais il se chiait dessus). Il est reconnaissable en quelques notes, contrairement à beaucoup de ses collègues.

Sur le forum hard rock 80 ils disent qu'un des 2 morceau qu'ils ont proposé est toujours en lice, c'est celui que j'ai écouté. (et c'est pas un tube comme hard rock hallejuha)




C'est vraiment le gros problème de cette scène nordique, bien trop formaté.

Les 2 ne font pas très tubes. Déjà la voix du mec risque de rebuter et le titre bof bof.

A propos de l'Eurovision, j'ai vu que les Wampas sont en lice pour représenter la France à la prochaine édition.

Sinon y a deux chanteurs dans Thunderstone ? C'est qui le type qui chante derrière sur le deuxième clip ?

J'oubliais de dire que ces deux chansons sont bien pourries.

Le refrain tombe à plat et Rantanen est aux fraises... Pas bon, ça.

Forevermore était meilleure.

@Rockwwod : Le gars en question est inconnu au bataillon. Il doit être uniquement là pour les choeurs sur scène. Il n'y a qu'un chanteur dans le groupe.

Bon quelques écoutes de la bête déjà et je suis moins séduit que par son predecesseur pour le moment, y a de bons titres qui seduisent du 1er coup, Down with me par exemple, et la voix est nickel comme avant, mais a coté, j'ai du mal a retenir beaucoup de choses, à approfondir

Bon tout le monde s'en tape le cul par terre, mais le groupe a changé de line up :

Last August saw Finnish metallers THUNDERSTONE part ways with vocalist Pasi Rantanen and keyboard player Kari Tornack, leaving fans wondering about the future of the band. The group, however, did not rest on its heels and did a full European tour in October-December, recruiting vocalist Tommi "Tuple" Salmela from TAROT and keyboardist Jukka Karinen. The temporary lineup created a flood of speculation, which is now bwing put to rest with the announcement of the band's new formation.

The new vocalist of THUNDERSTONE is Rick Altzi from Sweden. Rick has contributed his wonderful voice to many metal albums, most recently with German band AT VANCE.

"Everybody knows that filling Pasi's boots would be difficult for anybody, but Mr. Altzi does it!" says guitar player Nino Laurenne. "We were looking around for a potential candidate and were impressed by Rick from the start. After he recorded some vocals for our songs, we were definitely convinced. We flew the guy over to Finland to check his drinking stamina. He came, drank and left as the new singer of THUNDERSTONE! I can't wait to get to ProgPower UK with him and start working on our next album. We are BACK!"

Rick is also very enthusiastic about joining forces with the group: "I feel lucky to have been given the chance to sing with this genuine metal band, THUNDERSTONE!"

Many people thought that Tuple Salmela would be the permanent singer in the band. Titus Hjelm comments: "There was no drama with Tuple. It was clear to everybody from the beginning that the deal was for the tour only and then we would check the situation again. At the end of the day we were just more comfortable with Rick's voice and we didn't want to make any compromises in this issue. Tuple is an awesome singer and we are forever indebted to him for doing the tour with us and taking us through some hard times. And we will certainly drink vodka with him in the future also!'

On the keyboards the band enlisted Jukka Karinen, who already handled the keyboard duties on the European tour. "One of the most important things that has always driven this band ahead and helped us through hard times is humor," says Nino. "So having Jukka is just a great thing. This guy's sense of humor is definitely on the same level with us, so it makes him a perfect member! Oh, and he is a great player also."

The new lineup will perform for the first time at the ProgPower UK festival in Bristol on March 29.
