Fishbowlman Heavy Metal Lawyer Inscription: 21 Juin 2005 0:55 Messages: 1992 Localisation: Saint-Denis	Jim Gilmour : The great escape Le dernier album solo de Jim Gilmour, claviériste de Saga, décrit comme "the ultimate progressive album" sur son site officiel. Je l'écoute là et c'est juste , des parties de malade. Parfois, du piano qui rapelle les meilleures heures de Keith Emerson. Quelques guitares heavy et modernes (mais pas trop, heureusement sinon ça finirait par sonner comme du metal-prog classique), la voix efféminée de Jim (mais il y a aussi des intrumentaux), quelques mélodies qui rapellent Saga, mais le tout est plus complexe. On sent bien que c'est lui la caution "prog" de Saga, c'est évident. Tandis que Michael Sadler en écoutant ses albums solos, c'est plutôt le côté "pop" et Ian Crichton le côté "heavy".

Je ne connais que Ghettos by design, du hard rock moderne, typique des années 90, gros riffs bien gras et sans mélodies. Il s'était entouré d'une jeune équipe et les gars semblaient pas mal avoir écouté Motley Crue avec Corabi ou Monster Magnet... c'état pas si mal, même si c'est pas tellement ce qu'on attend d'un guitariste comme lui.

En gros on a soit des instrumentaux (6 titres sur 13) assez chiants (lents avec de la branlette en prime) soit des titres rock chantés qui passent mieux. C'est pas original du tout mais c'est quand même sympa (to the edge par exemple). Mais quand il joue seul pour faire des gros riffs, ça laisse à désirer. L'album solo de Michael Sadler (Clear) sorti l'année dernière était très bon aussi.

Randy George has been writing a blog about the recording sessions at his forum. Some snippets: I was sad to leave but I also have a sense of fulfillment that the work done is some of the best yet!!! I am sure that all will be pleased. There is something here for everyone. While the CD theme is historically based, it is set around the 15th century and tells a powerful story.
