Ben déjà, je fais clairement une distinction entre les années 70-80 d'une part, et les années 90 + 2000 d'autre part.

Au départ, Saga avait un son plus dans la veine de Toto, Supertramp, bourré de synthés.
Tandis qu'à partir de 90, ils ont opté pour un son vachement plus heavy, limite du hard rock sur certains albums (comme Security of illusion).

Les 4 premiers albums sont les gros classiques, les plus populaires.

Le 1er a super mal vieilli mais contient pas mal de classiques, mais je préfère largement m'écouter les versions live.
Silent Knight et Worlds Apart sont TOP, même le son est énorme pour l'époque. C'est l'arrivée de Jim Gilmour aux claviers, c'est là où les choses sérieuses commencent.

Ensuite, Heads or tales de 83, bourré de synthés et c'est le début d'un changement.
J'adore cet album, mais les avis sont partagés dessus. Très technique en tout cas.

Behaviour est plus pop, commercial, très réussi, sorti en 85.
Saga voulait probablement cartonner comme les groupes de l'époque genre Simple Minds.

Ensuite, Jim Gilmour et le batteur Steve Negus sont virés. la période 87-89 est vraiment la période noire du groupe.
Grosse baisse d'inspiration, Wildest dreams est encore plus pop, parfois hard FM ou limite variété, j'ai du mal.
L'autre album, The beginners guide to throwing shapes, est plus intéressant.

Retour de Gilmour et Negus en 91 je crois.
Là, Saga se modernise, devient plus heavy, grosses guitares. On perd beaucoup de la finesse des vieux albums, de leur magie même, c'est flagrant sur Security of illusion (c'est un très bon album de hard FM par contre).

Steel Umbrellas en 94, ça avait été composé pour devenir la BO de la série Cobra. Excellent album, plus funky et léger, mais méconnu car inhabituel pour Saga.

Generation 13 en 95 : leur chef-d'oeuvre, l'album à avoir dans toute disco prog qui se respecte.
Rien à voir avec les vieux classiques, c'est expérimental, ça part dans tous les sens : grosses guitares heavy, envolées symphoniques (avec orchestre), mélodies pop, démarche progressive en diable (beaucoup plus que sur les autres albums, dont la structure restait couplet-refrain).

Pleasure and the pain en 97 : autre album expérimental, mais à éviter, pauvre, effets électro bizzaroïdes, décallés, pochette horrible (2 versions pour les pochettes).
On voit des poubelles et des vaches sur une pochette, ça représente très bien l'album

Enfin, de Full circle à maintenant : 5 albums, plus ou moins dans le même style, Saga ne prend plus de risques, c'est un retour aux sources vers les 4 premiers albums, mais avec la touche heavy et moderne en plus.

Full Circle et House of cards sont excellents, le dernier Trust aussi
Marathon pas terrible et Network pas mal, mais pas indispensable.
J'ajoute que les albums récents de Saga peuvent plaire sans problème aux metalleux, expérience testée et approuvée plusieurs fois.

Donc pour résumer :
les indispensables, en essayant d'être objectif et en regroupant toutes les périodes : Silent Knights, Worlds Apart pour les vieux
Generation 13, Full Circle pour les récents

Avec Generation 13, tu devrais pas être déçu

Bon si ce Trust est du niveau de House of cards je vis peut être me le prendre!! Bon sang il y a plein de bons albums qui sortent en ce moment!

More information has been revealed about keyboardist Derek Sherinian's (DREAM THEATER, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN) upcoming fifth solo album, "Blood of the Snake", which will be released by InsideOut Music in Europe on July 27, in North America on August 1 and via Marquee/Avalon in Japan on August 23.

Sherinian was blessed to gain two top-notch guest musicians for the CD: Billy Idol and GUNS N' ROSES icon Slash. Sherinian already supported Idol on his previous tour and recorded MUNGO JERRY's classic song "In the Summertime", featuring guest appearances by both Idol and Slash. "That was my favorite song when I was three," Sherinian admits. "Billy sang this song when we were rehearsing in the studio and we immediately started jamming to it. All of a sudden we thought that this could be a good cover song. To me, Slash was simply perfect for it." Other tracks on this album were sung by Zakk Wylde, with additional guest appearances by Yngwie Malmsteen, John Petrucci (DREAM THEATER), Simon Phillips (TOTO), Tony Franklin (THE FIRM, BLUE MURDER) and Brian Tichy (BILLY IDOL, OZZY OSBOURNE).

Hum... Bien cool oui, il sait s'entourer, comme d'hab ! Puis In The Summertime en cover j'ose même pas imaginer... Faut dire que cette chanson a aussi été un élément incontournable de mon adolescence, souvenir impérissable.

Mes parents avaient mis ce truc sur une cassette de Simon & Garfunkel, j'ai longtemps cru que c'était eux qui la jouaient (alors que ça n'a calirement rien à voir )

"AXAMENTA: Sven from the Belgian Band Axamenta has informed us that their new album will be released at the end of May. They recorded the album last year at Jacon Hansen & Studio Fredman. On one song, Daniel Gildenlöw has written and performed all the vocals! According to Sven, this is quite a unique event, since their music is more into the heavier area (think Soilwork, Dimmu Borgir, Opeth, PoS, ...) and says that Daniel has REALLY put A LOT of work into this. Hum... Faut voir, mais ça peut valoir le coup ! Je vais écouter les extraits.

J'eume réponds hein, au moins comme ça je saurais ce que j'en pense...

Méga son, grosse artillerie. Voix death plutôt 'agréable', contre-chants et choeurs hypers fignolés. Les voix sont très travaillés. Musicalement ça dépote sérieusement, mais en finesse. Bien arrangé, le titre full est très bon, avec quelques petites touches perso bien vue (guitare nylon sur la fin, utilisation d'un xylophone... ?). Tout ça est un mélange d'un peu tout, cohérent comme pas permis. L'extrait avec Daniel est magique. P'tain c'te voix... Entre nous, vivement le prochain POS. Bon, j'écoute, je ré-écoute et ré-écoute... Et ça me botte de plus en plus ! J'adhère. A mon avis ça augure d'un réellement bel album, sans soucis .

EDIT : d'ailleurs ça n'a rien à faire en autres musiques, c'est foncièrement du Metal.

Acclaimed American progressive rock legends Rocket Scientists have returned to the studio after an 8 year hiatus and are proud to announce the forthcoming release of their new epic double album, "Revolution Road".
