CANDLEMASS vocalist Messiah Marcolin contacted BLABBERMOUTH.NET today (April 28) to reveal that he has left the Swedish doomsters and that it's 100 percent definite that he will not return. "We could not agree on how to do the new album," he said, but would not further elaborate on his sudden departure.

Marcolin spent the early months of 2006 recovering from an infection of the vocal cords and was ordered by his doctor to wait until this summer before resuming singing.

CANDLEMASS recorded four new songs with producer Andy Sneap (NEVERMORE, ARCH ENEMY, MACHINE HEAD) in late February at the new Polar studios in Stockholm, Sweden. At the time, the group's bassist/songwriter Leif Edling said of the material, "The songs are pretty much in the same vein as the stuff on the [self-titled 2005] reunion album, maybe a bit darker."

CANDLEMASS won a Swedish "Grammy" award in February in the "Best Hard Rock" category, beating out the likes of HAMMERFALL, HARDCORE SUPERSTAR, MESHUGGAH and OPETH. The Swedish doom legends were honored for the "Candlemass" opus, which is available on Nuclear Blast Records. Five back-catalog items from the band — "Epicus Doomicus Metallicus", "Ancient Dreams", "Doomed for Live", "Nightfall", and "Essential Doom" — were issued in the U.S. via Candlelight in February.

c'est bien dommage, ces mecs ne savent jamais ce qu'ils veulent, rendez vous dans 1 an pour la reformation avec gros concert a Wacken!

merde ! le dernier album etait enorme, un des rares groupes a proposer un album a la hauteur de leur passé ces temps ci !
heureusement que je les ai vu l'année derniere au Bang, ca m'aurait fait chier de ne les avoir jamais vu !
mais une reformation en 2007 n'est pas non plus a exclure...

pour ma part, j'avoue que cet album m'a un poil déçu!
alors je souhaite une reformation de MEMENTO MORI.

Pour ceux qui aiment à la fois le Doom et Mats Leven, je ne peux que vous conseiller de jeter une oreille sur Krux, fondé par le bassiste de Candlemass pendant une longue absence du Messiah et avec le dit Leven au chant.

Et je ne peux que plussoyer Wedge, leur dernier album a beaucoup tourné chez moi ces dernières semaines.

Sinon la pochette et le titre du nouveau Candlemass m'inspirent bien, j'espère qu'il sera aussi sympa que l'éponyme.

Lowe à une superbe voix, c'est clair, c'est different de Messiah mais je ne pense pas que l'on ai perdu au change effectivement ... ça rappelle beaucoup Copernicus comme morceau ... j'aime

1ere écoute et c'est vrai que Lowe a une voix superbe, je flashe déjà sur le titre Of stars and smoke, en tout cas l'ambiance y est, c'est bien lourd et puissant, et ecouter ça a cette heure ci, ça le fait mechant je dois dire

apres quelques ecoutes, il est comment ? Il parait que ça lorgne plutot vers Krux que du Candlemass old school ...

Oui ça je confirme, ça sonne plus Krux mais franchement c'est du bon, Marcolin peut raler sur le net, il a été vite remplacé et de bonne manière

argh ! j'en ai plein le dos d'attendre cet album ! c'est long !! quant à les voir en live, je peux m'asseoir dessus, c'est clair ...
