German power metallers RAGE filmed their recent show in St. Petersburg, Russia in front of 15,000 fans for an upcoming live DVD, tentatively due in early 2007 via Nuclear Blast. According to a posting on the band's official web site, the band used a "specially designed laser and light show" during the concert and performed highlights from their latest CD, "Speak of the Dead", along with selections from their earlier albums which were not covered on their previous DVD. The band is currently editing and mixing the footage and is in the process of compiling "some interesting bonus material," to be included on the set.
"Speak of the Dead" entered the German national chart at position No. 58 back in early April. The follow-up to 2003's "Soundchaser" (SPV) was recorded at the VPS studios in Hamm, Germany and is available on Nuclear Blast Records.
RAGE shot a video for the track "No Fear" off "Speak of the Dead". The song is featured on the soundtrack to the independent psycho thriller "Ludgers Fall" and the clip includes scenes from the original film as well as a band performance. The video was shot on the island of Föhr, located in the North Sea.

German power metallers RAGE filmed their show in St. Petersburg, Russia earlier in the year in front of 15,000 fans for an upcoming live DVD, tentatively due on February 23, 2007 via Nuclear Blast. According to a posting on the band's official web site, RAGE used a "specially designed laser and light show" during the concert and performed highlights from their latest CD, "Speak of the Dead", along with selections from their earlier albums which were not covered on their previous DVD.
Commented RAGE guitarist Victor Smolski: "This DVD will surpass by far our last DVD 'From the Cradle to the Stage'."
In related news, Smolski has "started to work on another new big project — a compilation CD for the 20th anniversary of Nuclear Blast," Victor writes on his web site. "It will be an album with about 10 songs of various metal bands of Nuclear Blast history, including a new RAGE song, which will be completely composed, recorded and produced by me. The organisation is big stress, as it's not so easy to get musicians from all over the world with different tour and studio timetables together for one schedule."
Regarding RAGE's upcoming touring schedule, Smolski said, "I'm really looking forward, to start the festival tour in 2007 (including Wacken). This will be another huge note-work for me. Beside the 'Suite Lingua Mortis', composed by myself for the last RAGE CD, we also perform and play many songs from the 'Lingua Mortis' and '13' album of RAGE together with an orchestra! For these shows I will write even more orchester arrangements for rage-songs. As we are in the lucky position of being headliner at the Wacken festival, our fans can expect a great show with real long setlist."

German power metallers RAGE filmed their show in St. Petersburg, Russia earlier in the year in front of 15,000 fans for an upcoming live DVD, tentatively due on February 23, 2007 via Nuclear Blast. Entitled "Full Moon in St. Petersburg" (cover), the double DVD will consist of the following: DVD 1 will contain the complete concert in St. Petersburg, Russia, including highlights from the group's last album, "Speak of the Dead", along with several oldies and other fan favorites. The audio will be available in 5.1 Surround Sound or in normal stereo sound. According to a posting on the group's web site, "The concert is a unique adventure with an exceptional light show, marking a great contrast to the last DVD, which was recorded in an intimate atmosphere at the Zeche Bochum." Additionally, DVD1 will include the band's last two promotional videos, Brazilian TV footage, and RAGE perfoming live at the "Masters of Rock" festival 2006 in Tschechien.
Meanwhile, DVD2 will consist out of comprehensive bonus material, including a full-length documentary shot on the band's last Russian tour, a detailed documentary recorded on the last European tour, featuring insight into the band's life "on the road" and backstage. In addition, each member of the band has contributed personal footage, such as guitarist Victor Smolski's involvement in car racing and his solo appearances; frontman Peavy Wagner discussing his ice age bone collection and his newest hobby, the casting of skulls; and drummer Mike Terrana conducting a short drum workshop and playing his latest drum solo.
The first edition will be available in a special steelbook with two DVDs and an audio CD, but will also be available as a separate DVD or audio CD. The artwork was once again designed by Anthony Clarkson, who was responsible for the cover of the "Speak of the Dead" album.

Mouais, jolie pochette...

German power metallers RAGE have parted ways with drummer Mike Terrana.
Commented vocalist/bassist Peter "Peavy" Wagner and guitarist Victor Smolski: "From now on, we won't continue our collaboration with Mike because of personal and musical differences that have been existing for a while now and became unbearable. This cut is definitely not easy for us — but to avoid damage to RAGE we have no other choice. Unfortunately, there's not much left from our former unity. A while ago comunication between Mike and us broke down completely, so we have to pull the emergency brake. We decided to work with a new drummer in the future because we don't want to ruin it all to a point where there's no future at all. We want to keep our power and joy in music, so there's no other way. We are aware how much this lineup meant to you (and us) but that's life. A band, especially a three-piece, is like a relationship. Over the years we just drifted apart. We wish Mike all the best for his further career. Nevertheless, there's a bright perspective in front of us: We definitely won't cancel a single show and are working intensely at the moment to present you a suitable new drummer soon. We have lots of plans for the next year, among others we'll play some exclusive orchestra shows for you. We hope you all keep the faith in the future and promise to keep up our quality level to 100%."
Et le post de Terrana.
Terrana says, "This was no easy decision, but I strongly believe it is about time for something new for me. I had a great time in RAGE and I don't want to miss to say 'thank you so much' to all the fans who followed us over the last years. Your never-ending support has meant a lot to me and I honestly hope we all will see each other again very soon. Also I wish the guys in RAGE good luck and success for their future."
