Rhino Records has set a March 7 release date for the forthcoming reissue of JUDAS PRIEST guitarist Glenn Tipton's solo debut, 1997's "Baptizm Of Fire", and the collection of Tipton's recordings with the late, great THE WHO bassist John Entwistle and drummer Cozy Powell (RAINBOW, BLACK SABBATH), entitled "Edge of the World".

"Baptizm of Fire" features Tipton collaborating with stellar hard rock players including John Entwistle, Shannon Larkin (GODSMACK), Cozy Powell, Billy Sheehan, and current METALLICA bassist Robert Trujillo. Standout tracks include Tipton's crushing send-up of the ROLLING STONES' "Paint It Black" and the masterful title track.

"Edge of the World" (Tipton, Entwistle and Powell) is the previously unreleased collaboration by three of rock's most celebrated players. Speaking with Rockdetector.com's Garry Sharpe-Young in 1994, Cozy Powell mentioned this project. "While I was away (from BLACK SABBATH) I did some things with Glenn Tipton from JUDAS PRIEST," he said. "Great songwriter. So I put drums down on his album. That was fun, we both have a very similar sense of humor so that was very enjoyable, very relaxed. Glenn is just itching to get out there again and do something. PRIEST can't find a singer though so I'm working with a singer called John West too so something will hopefully come of that. Right now though I am totally committed to BLACK SABBATH but I have cushion there of my solo album if needs be. John is a great singer, a bit of an undiscovered talent. Maybe me, John, Glenn and Neil Murray. That would be quite a band. It could happen."

Ah tiens, ça ça m'intéresse.
J'avais écouté un petit bout de Baptizm of Fire, et c'était plutot pas mal.
Et le Edge of the World a l'air assez réussi aussi.

Hum... Une légende vivante ENTWISTLE ! Les autres je sais pas, chui trop vieux. Trèfle de plaisanterie, j'ai pas tout compris : c'est un truc récent, de vieux morceaux ou quoi... ? Et quelqu'un sait à "quoi ça ressemble" ?

Comme Enwistle et Powell sont morts on peut en déduire que c'est un peu du vieux matos. Apparemment, ça remonte à 94 voire avant. Sinon je n'ai aucune idée de ce que ça peut donner mise à part qu'on a 3 grands noms de la musique dessus.

Urk, ils sont morts... Bon, je me rencarderais un minimum avant de poser des questions cons ! Enfin, je suis quand même curieux de savoir ce que cela peut donner.

ouais sauf Tipton qui officie toujours dans Judas Priest. Mais bon son album solo paru en 97 était pas folichon, enfin bon on ne sait jamais... et puis j'aime bien la pochette.

Je la trouve très bien aussi. Et franchement elle est pour beaucoup dans mon envie d'écouter la chose !

C'est qui Enwistle ? C'est le seul que je ne connaisse pas du trio.
Il me tente bien aussi sinon ce cd.

J'adore le nom de ce groupe, 40 ans après ça 'fonctionne' toujours...

(ben oui..; c'est un Wookie... hum...)

Je le trouve bien sympa ce disque (Edge), y a de bons morceaux et ça joue bien (évidemment). Tipton a un son bien à part aussi. C'est cool et pas prise de tête. Je ne le comparerais pas au Baptizm car j'en ai trop peu de souvenirs, mais Edge est meilleur à mon sens.

Mais c'est dans quel genre en fait?

Hum... je dirais entre le Hard et le Heavy, un peu spécial quand même, la prod aussi. Il est bien cool ce disque.

Par contre vous attendez pas à du Priest ou assimilé.
