MEGADETH have parted ways with bassist James MacDonough. In a posting on the band's official forum, James wrote, "I just wanted to say thank you all so much for making me feel so welcome and thank you for all the awesome memories along the road. I will not be playing with MEGADETH any longer. I'm sure Dave [Mustaine, MEGADETH mainman] will post about it soon. Thanks again my metal brothers and sisters."

It was only five days ago (Feb. 5) that MacDonough posted a message on the MEGADETH message board indicating that he was very much "looking forward" to playing at the Desert Rock 2006 festival in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on March 16, adding that he would "document the trip" for the fans.

Could MacDonough's departure signal the return of MEGADETH's original bassist David Ellefson? In a a February 4, 2006 online posting on the band's web site, Mustaine wrote, "I said it before, [and] I'll say it again: I once was resentful, but now I am over the feuds with METALLICA, Ellefson, whomever. I have actually met with Ellefson one-on-one for dinner last year around [Christmas] to just clear the air and let him know I have no hard feelings and wanted to remain friends with him. We have talked on the phone numerous times since."

MEGADETH's scheduled appearance at the Desert Rock 2006 festival in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on March 16 is not expected to be affected by MacDonough's departure.

tant mieux ! j'avais rien contre lui mais le bassiste de MEGADETH c'est Ellefson point barre, après qu'ils se tapent sur la tronche c'est leur probleme tant qu'ils nous sortent d'excellents albums et viennent faire une vrai tournée en france, on ne leur en demande pas plus ... allez plus que 2 et ils sont au complet

Je me demande si le fait de remonter le line up 90-98 n'aiderait pas à remonter leur cote de popularité ... wait and see ...

Je serais surpris qu'ils ne cedent pas à la mode des rabibochages hasardeux ... un peu de blé facile, ça paie des impots et si on les traite de vendus parce qu'ils capitalisent sur le passé, ils n'auront qu'a faire comme le juge Burgaud et dire qu'il n'y a pas qu'eux

D'accord avec Axel, le retour d'Ellefson me paraît plus qu'improbable après tout ce qui s'est passé. A la limite, je dirais que le retour de Mustaine dans Metallica a plus de chances de se réaliser...





(ce serait le seul moyen de sauver Metallica du désastre en cours...)

MEGADETH have announced the addition of former BLACK LABEL SOCIETY/WHITE LION bassist James Lomenzo to the group's ranks. Lomenzo joins the band as the replacement for James MacDonough (ex-ICED EARTH), who was officially dismissed from the group on February 10, 2006.

"I want to thank Jimmy for everything and wish him the best in his future endeavors," MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine said in a statement. "He is knowledgable and a good enough bassist to run his own outfit, and I look forward to what he does musically."

Mustaine added, "It was recommeded I check out James Lomenzo by a friend, because I was uncertain which direction I wanted to take with the bassist prior to starting the next record, and everything just clicked."

Lomenzo will perform with MEGADETH at their next scheduled live appearance, which is set for March 16 at the Desert Rock 2006 festival in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Qu'est ce que tu crois, Mustaine tiens à son record du "groupe de métal qui aura eu le plus de line-up différents"

En tous cas, j'ai même pas retenu les noms des derniers pour ma part...J'attends au moins qu'ils tiennent 2 albums de suite

"It's been a long time since I posted (yet prolly shorter than most) and a lot of things have been going on in Megaland. Most notably a shift in personnel, a new record starting to be assembled, the finalization of the DVDs for this year, and the nearing of a new label for Megs.

"It would be unctuous of me to slide past what a lot of you are evidently wondering; and that is what happened with [bassist] Jimmy MacDonough? Let me first say that I hope to remain friends with Jimmy (a least longer than the last two Jims I have played with) and I wish him the very best. We have parted ways and I have nothing even remotely bad to say about him. Nothing.

"MEGADETH has hired James Lomenzo [ex-BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, WHITE LION, DAVID LEE ROTH] to play bass, and while preparing for the next record, we are going to work James into the fold here, rehearsing somewhere in So. Cal. next week.

"I am off to L.A. to finish the edit for the Gigantour DVD and besides mainly trying to balance out the entire backstage footage, everything else is done.

"Lastly, I should have news before we leave for Dubai (hopefully sooner) about where MEGADETH has decided to sign to. We are down to the final three and it won't be long before we notify you."

L'explication du départ de Jimmy n'en est pas une.

Et Mustaine a encore du chemin à faire avant d'avoir eu autant de membres différents dans son groupe que Jeff Waters.
