UNISONIC, the new band featuring former HELLOWEEN vocalist Michael Kiske and Kai Hansen (GAMMA RAY, ex-HELLOWEEN) alongside Dennis Ward (bass) and Kosta Zafiriou (drums) of Germany's PINK CREAM 69 and Swiss guitarist Mandy Meyer (who has previously played with ASIA, GOTTHARD and KROKUS), will release its debut EP, "Ignition" in late January via earMUSIC/Edel. The effort will include the track "Unisonic" plus one demo song and a cover version of the HELLOWEEN classic "I Want Out", recorded live on October 15 at this year's edition of the Loud Park festival at Saitama Super Arena, a multi-purpose indoor arena located in Saitama City, Japan.
The "Ignition" cover artwork can be seen below. Also available is a stream of the song "Unisonic".
A full-length UNISONIC album will be made available in March.
Zafiriou previously stated about the band's decision to sign with earMUSIC/Edel: "We had several promising labels being interested in UNISONIC, but the enthusiasm of Max Vaccaro and his team convinced us that earMUSIC is the right company for us."
After the addition of Hansen to the group's lineup in early 2011, UNISONIC continued the songwriting process for its debut release, incorporating Kai's talent for writing great anthemic rock songs into its existing material. The recordings for the album started at end of September at ICP studios in Brussels, Belgium.
UNISONIC's music is very versatile and shows a broad approach to heavy rock without sacrificing the power and strong, catchy melodies that characterized the bandmembers' previous projects.
Commented Kiske: "It feels great to finally bring the band to the studio and record the songs we've been working on. We took our time to grow as a band, but it was definitely worth it and we are very proud of the result."
Added bassist/producer Ward: "We have a bunch of very strong songs and can't wait until people can hear them. Everyone in the band is now looking even more positive into the future."
Regarding Hansen's addition to UNISONIC, Kiske previously said, "After so many years of abstinence, I had a lot of fun doing my first live shows with UNISONIC in summer 2010, so I agreed to do the short world tour with AVANTASIA. It was a great experience to be on stage with all those great artists, but with Kai it was something different: We instantly felt the magic again and had a lot of fun together on and off stage. We both realized that we want to be together in band again. He was interested in the open musical concept of UNISONIC and finally asked me if he can join the band. I talked to my bandmates and they all felt great about it. His talent as a guitarist and songwriter is an enrichment for the band and we are looking forward to his contribution for the music of UNISONIC."

C'est pas mal, même si dans l'état actuel des choses le retour du duo Kiske/Hansen m'intéresse moins que l'ironie qu'il y a à vois Kiske jouer avec les membres de PC69

C'est sympathoche. Je ne suis pas sûr qu'on s'y intéresserait vraiment sans l'association des deux gusses (déjà que), mais ça reste agréable.

C'est vrai que j'en avais parlé de ce machin-là, il me semble que c'était pour en dire du mal, d'ailleurs... J'espère vraiment qu'ils sortiront un bon disque pour me faire ravaler mes sarcasmes pourris, et me punir d'avoir oser douter d'eux, nanmaisoh !
Sinon cet extrait est effectivement pas mal du tout, un bon p'tit tube Hard, non ? Content de d'entendre Kiske chanter sur un bon truc (ça doit faire depuis le premier Avantasia que c'était plus arrivé, je crois), et de constater que les années n'ont pas trop d'emprise sur lui (vocalement parlant s'entend). Maintenant, le plus dur reste à faire pour eux: faudra en aligner 10 comme ça pour faire un bon disque...

C'est trop classe. Sur amazon on peut trouver un extrait du 2nd titre du EP, My Sanctuary, tout aussi prometteur avec un Kiske qui déchire tout !

Putain je l'aime pas des masses ce con, j'ai jamais trop oublié son peu d'amour du metal, mais il a une voix terrible pour chanter du heavy mélodique, c'est fluide, rapide et efficace, il en enterre un sacré paquet dans le genre

Je suis le seul à le trouver un peu fatigué le Kiske ? J'ai l'impression de l'entendre à travers un filtre d'effet, et que la puissance est pas vraiment au rendez-vous.
Sinon la chanson est pas mal du tout.

Dès l'intro, j'ai l'impression que je vais écouter Kids Of The Century, c'est le même genre de riffs et de tempos. Kiske n'a jamais eu une voix "puissante" je pense.

Le morceau est sympa, énergique et mélodique, mais comme Zoso, je déplore l'utilisation de ce pauvre effet en vogue (en gros, le même que dans "Fatal Bazooka", "Je suis musique", oui, sacrée référence hein ? - mais en moins poussé-) qui ruine la voix de Kiske. J'espère qu'ils n'ont pas eu la "bonne idée" d'en foutre partout sur l'album...

Je trouve surtout que sur les couplets où ça speede ça serait plus agressif niveau voix (genre je pensais entendre Hetfield quoi). Sur le refrain, j'ai mis un moment avant de comprendre qu'il disait UNISONIC, je pensais au départ qu'il disait "We're Solid !!" (oui mauvaise langue mais quand même).
Sinon c'est sympa, punchy, accrocheur et tout. Ca accroche gentiment.

Certains ont eu la même impression sur DOTF...avec la petite pointe d'ironie qui va avec (par rapport aux détracteurs d'Helloween post-Hansen).
Et ouis, Kiske n'est pas un chanteur puissant, comme a peu près tous les chanteurs sur-aigue dans le metal.
En tout cas, j'ai l'impression qu'Hansen s'éclate bien sur ce morceau, plus que sur les derniers Gamma Ray..

Ça me parait assez normal que qu'il pousse plus dans les hyper aigus comme avant, dans la mesure ou il n'a plus 20ans (même si il est resté vraiment très bon) et ou il n'a peut être plus envie d'être tout le temps à fond (en vieillissant on apprend plus logiquement à nuancer), comme il pouvait le faire plus jeune...

Ouaip, je crois que c'est justement ce qu'il lui fallait. Et là au moins, il l'occasion de jouer quelque chose de bien sans jamais pomper sur Judas Priest...

Pas un grand album, mais finalement, à l'instar du premier Place Vendome, un album rafraichissant. Il est toujours agréable d'entendre Kiske sur des chansons qui tiennent la route, surtout si, comme moi, vous vous êtes fadés tous ses albums solo et le Supared rien que pour entendre sa voix (j'ai pas acheté celui avec la nana de Paeth par contre, j'ai un peu de dignité!)
Cela dit l'effet de surprise s'estompe. Dans la première moitié des années 2000, n'importe quelle morceau hard ou metal avec Kiske excitait ma curiosité. Mais là, je ne vais pas dire qu'on sature, mais la tendance s'est bien inversée.
Album pas désagréable en tous cas.

Déjà, rien qu'à l'allure de la pochette (celle de Joc, je vois assez mal l'autre du dessus), tu te dis que ça sent le faisandé...
Ce qui, sans transition aucune, me rappelle que je n'ai toujours pas écouté ce Unisonic (ta mère), chose que je compte bien faire très prochainement.
Bref, "c'était vraiment très intéressant...", comme dirait l'autre...
