MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has posted the following message in the "Forum" section of the group's official web site:

"We all leave to go home tomorrow — my family and John Leeder's family and as soon as I get home I am going to the hospital because I can't seem to shake this horrible road rot I have acquired out here. Three different types of antibiotics, numerous cold remedies, and still the same thing everyday. That did not keep me from playing the last shows, and it will not keep me from our impending Japan Invasion.

"I am really looking forward to taking the boys overseas to Japan, as they have never seen the fantastic and fanatical Japanese fans. I am crossing my fingers that my family will be able to go again, but I think the last run burned them out. Plus the kids are still in school and I need to be a good daddy.

"I heard that the video will be debuted very soon, and I hope y'all like it. Also, we have been in direct contact with two of the four-five bands that we want to take out this summer, as well as the third band that our agent spoke to, and numerous bands that have contacted us to be part of this great opportunity to spread some metal around. Of the three that we have talked to, we are hopeful that they will be part of the summer tour, and I believe that you will be stoked.

"Lastly, there is a lot of stuff that I need to fill you in on this week when I get home regarding the 'Best Of' record and the 'DVD'. I will be as open and upfront as possible with you. Just let me say that the 'DVD' will have some really great, never-before-seen stuff on it."

Ce qui est bien avec Mustain c'est qu'il ne nous laisse jamais longtemps sans nouvelles. lol

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has posted the following message in the "Forum" section of the band's official web site:

"I am sad to say that I have cut my right hand open and won't be able to tour for a few months.

"Just kidding! Actually, I was putting air in my tires yesterday and the air hose had a piece of sheet metal sticking out of it, and I really have slashed my right hand little finger. It bled all the way to the airport, while I was running interference for John Leeder on his chopper, and was taking Z to the airport. I have stealth radar on my Merc and when we caravan with friends I usually go out in front so we can book it at 80ish mph.

"Anyway, here is the dish . . . when I went to see my agent Keith Sarkisian at William Morris Agency on Thursday, I had three things to talk about: the last and upcoming tour, my acting career, and my kids. I will start in reverse.

"Kids: It appears that JD is now old enough to be represented by WMA, but that he is going to have to do a hell of a lot more to be taken by his own merit and not on his Dad's, which I support. I worked for my own career, and I want him to too.

"Acting: Management, meaning Kevin Gasser and John Dee of Benchmark Entertainment, had told Keith to give me a break because of the touring. This is because if something comes up, I would have to pass because I am shaking a guitar on a stage somewhere away from Hollywood and would have to pass, which doesn't always go down well. And I like it when things go down well. So, I found out my friend Mark Geiger is now the film agent at Billy Mo (WMA) and I visited with him to just catch up. He had an interesting story that I can't tell you, or he would have to kill you. So, there is item number two.

"Touring: Finally, we went over the last tour, which was really refreshing, because he told me that every promoter made money, that everyone was happy, that people want to do business with me again, and that the summer tour is going to be bigger than what I initially thought.

"So, now for the summer tour. We are going to make a coordinated announcement with the other bands that are going to be on this tour and what the name of it is going to be called. There are five slots, and we have confirmed three of the slots; MEGADETH; the next supergroup on the bill; we have and idea about the next band; still have the penultimate slot open; and have confirmed the opener.

"I was relieved to hear that what I thought was MAYBE going to be a step up from the last tour in venue size is considerably more. We are being offered places like the incomparable Red Rocks in Denver, and other ultra-famous locations that I am sure we all know and love. This came as a tremendous relief to me, because my ego wants to play the biggest places that I can, now that you know I was willing to play any stage with enough power to run our stuff on the last tour (kinda giving the dog a really big bone).

"Lastly, I met with a gentleman and his artist yesterday at my house and I will not say who it was so I look cool, but to you two friends . . . thank you for your faith in me, your support, and your kindness. I really appreciate, and respect your taking time to come and catch up with me. Best wishes in the studio and I know that GOD is totally in charge of your lives and the new record will kick!"

C'est impressionnant comment, quand il parle comme ça, il a l'air d'être super sympa.
Sinon bon, c'est pas que sa vie me passionne pas.. mais s'il a rien à dire, bah qu'il dise rien :?

'Greatest: Back to the Start', c'est le titre d'un prochain best of...

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has posted the following message in the "Forum" section of the band's official web site:

"Up very early today and off for a full plate of events. I have to go by two shops to do some haggling, and meet with John Leeder tonight, and other than that, it is another day of gym, surfing, and hanging with my family.

"My big sister Michelle came by yesterday with her husband Stan and we had dinner and got caught up, but I was left with a very sad feeling because she said that she is considering moving back to Idaho. Some of you may remember that as a young teen I lived up there with her when I tried to run away from my mom. Stupid move, but she was there for me.

"I showed them Matjse (my mare) and Tiedman Von Der Zonschate (Pam's gelding) and they were pretty impressed.

"Now for something totally different: Glen has been emailing me this morning and said he doesn't like me because I said an *inside joke* to him.

"Lastly, there have been some interesting developments around here: new forums, new moderators, something happened with Sanctuary's book department where it just 'shut down', and we are waiting for Cory Brennan to get back to us about an intense conversation from last week about the single dropping, the records not being in the stores, and what was happening for the summer with the next vidi, marketing, etc.

"Fortunately, EMI has stepped up to the plate BIG TIME. the Greatest Hits record is progressing very well and it is tentatively titled 'Greatest: Back to the Start' because the sequencing goes in reverse from 'KTC' back to 'The Mechanix'. This should be released sometime this summer to support the festival.

"We are almost ready to announce who are the acts for the summer tour over here, and from reading the (overwhelming) threads of who I should take out I think that some of you will be very pleased. Put it this way, it will be a East Coast/West Coast thing.

"I'm off to look at surfboards with my little monkeys."

Plus un.

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has posted the following message in the "Forums" section of the band's official web site:

"There are so many rumors going around about this summer tour that I am really enjoying myself. We confirmed the fourth band for our main stage (if there is a second stage) and I am thrilled to announced that the total amount of letters for the four bands so far are about 40 letters. I know this helps a lot of a little and will make some of you mad.

"We are just deciding who the last guest will be on this initial 'flagship' run of what we hope to be a recurring festival next year too.

"Lastly, I had a huge conference call with all my management and attorneys yesterday about my career and its current ascension, much to my delight, and I have made up my mind what I am going to do about MEGADETH. I will make my announcement sometime this summer. It is going to take a lot of work, and probably some intense struggles; not that I am a stranger to them, but I think some of you will be happy for me."

Mustaine remet les pendules à leur place ( lol )

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has posted the following message in the "Forums" section of the band's official web site:

"I wanted to clear up recurring questions about the Greatest Hits record.

1) It is supposed to come out this summer, in June, they say.

2) It will have 17 songs on it.

3) There will be a special edition of it with bonuses.

4) The songs are based on being EMI Publishing songs NOT Capitol or Sanctuary songs. This Greatest Hits record is being made by EMI; not Capitol.

5) The songs are songs YOU voted for.

6) 'Kill the King' and 'Dread and the Fugitive Mind' were on 'Capitol Punishment' and since 'Capitol Punishment' is out of print. I (with a capital frigging 'I') wanted 'Kill the King' on there. That was MY vote! 'Dread' may appear on a Sanctuary record, but it belongs to Capitol too.

7) 'Mechanix' is not 'The Four Horsemen'; 'The Four Horsemen' is 'Mechanix'. Get over it. Buy a calendar, learn to count, have a coke and a smile, and ST*U

8) 'Kick the Chair' was not possible for business reasons that you just don’t need to know. Saying, 'this is no good because 'Kick the Chair' is not on it,' is quite revealing of one's ignorance.

9) Since this is finished, we are now focusing on the DVD."

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has posted the following message in the "Forums" section of the band's official web site:

"I am going to go riding today on my horse Matjse (first time on a horse since Cassandra died last year), and start back on my routine to get ready for the summer tours with the gym. Sure, we burn calories on stage, but somehow I can't shake my urge to EAT, and I know there are going to be a lot of healthy, good-looking people out this summer on this tour, and I wanna be one of them too. I am going to check on the surfboards that TDK surfboards are making for me and Justis and get some sun in while I am down there. No 'courthouse tan' for me!

"I went to this fabulous meeting last night called 'Third Tuesday' with Pam, and Trevor and Andrew, and saw Guido there. What a trip! It came at a good time too, because I was feeling really run down and blue, and I got my spiritual batteries charged.

"Anyway, I spent a few hours yesterday checking up on the bands that are on the list for the second stage; going to their web site, seeing their faces, their bios, their videos, etc. It was a very interesting morning. To give you a glimpse at who was submitted and seem to be in the running, they are DRY KILL LOGIC, DIECAST, OTEP, OVERKILL, PAIN OF SALVATION, TAPROOT and Mike Portnoy's recommendation, SYMPHONY X.

"There are still many more bands to review, and now I am waiting for their music to be sent. Once I hear how they sound, I wish to talk to them so that they will understand what I am trying to do, and how important their involvement will be with me on this maiden voyage.

"There will be no 'I'M THE TOP GUY' attitude on this trip, as I will make sure and treat everyone, in every band, like they were my very own. I wish to make this the best festival for these groups that they have ever been on; I know it's a huge undertaking, but kindness and respect go a long way. Plus I know a lot of these guys are fans and/or are better than me as a guitarist anyway. So I look forward to learning what I can from them.

"These updates will cease to be as informative in my column here, as they will be once the Gigantour site is launched next month. And I think it will be a fun environment for fans of all the bands.

"Lastly, THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN will join up with us after the first week or so, and we are looking for a perfect fit for the second slot on the main stage until they do. I hope to make a decision that will benefit us all as much as the final line-up appears to have done. Also, as I mentioned before, out of respect for the other festivals out this summer, we are purposely trying to put some space in-between our arrival and theirs. There should be no big dilemma what to do, because there will be no conflicting days of 'Do I go here, or do I go there?'

"To the Aussie fans, you never cease to amaze me, and we are in talks to bring Gigantour down there now. It may not be with any of the current line-up of other bands, but at least we are starting the preliminary footwork. This means, either this year or early next you may see this festival down there (maybe even in Perth).

"I love you all."

Je vous préviendrai quand Dave dira quelque chose d'interessant.

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has posted the following message in teh "Forums" section of the band's official web site:

"I have seen your comments on some of the bands that were submit for Gigantour that I liked, and I am diggin' the response. I will inform you about this as we go along.

"As far as moving someone from the Main Stage, forget it!

"I had talked about adding another band to the main stage, but I don't want it to be too much, and as far as OVERKILL, if I did ask them to join the Main stage for the dates that THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN are not on it, the tour starts on the West Coast tentatively. So there!

"I will let you know as it progresses, like I said, but I am still waiting for the rest of the bands that were submit to look at them. And as far as any other bands go, I will consider your suggestions, but this is about the success of the whole tour. Not some solitary fan that wants to hear a 'MENTORS tribute band" from their home town (although, that would be kewl).

"The smallest venues we are looking at are of course mostly due to unconfirmed demand and routing, but even still we are going into buildings in the 5,000 capacity range and on up. So there should be no problems getting a good view point and making it back and forth from stage to stage.

"Lastly, I have made contact with my international agent this morning and he said he is going to follow up Gigantour with our new friends in the Pacific Rim. However, the lineup will probably change for these new territories. If this does happen, I will still take time to hand pick all of the talent so it ROCKS!

"This gentleman is also responsible for the rest of the world outside of North America, so he will hopefully get some info for Euro/UK/South America dates if possible.

"Come on Gigantour!"

Toc avant ZiGGy :)

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has posted the following message in teh "Forums" section of the band's official web site:

"What a weekend! I went up to Seymour Duncan's 30th Anniversary party in Santa Barbara on Friday and man was I blown away! I had no idea that Seymour was such a fantastic guitarist!!!

"Unbelievable!

"I also saw two other artists of Seymour's; George Lynch and a lady named Kat or Cat that was with Prince at one time. George was really good, as was Cat/Kat and there were numerous other unknown players that just got up and jammed. It gave me some great ideas for inviting some of you to a party and jamming with me and the boys.

"Thanks to Seymour and his wife, Kathy, Evan and his wife, and Kellie for making our stay enjoyable and I recommend anyone check into the Seymour Duncan website for reviews as well as his forums to meet some of the players. They really were THAT good.

"Loads of good stuff happened last week that I will tell you about once it is confirmed, and the routing for the Gigantour is almost complete, so we will be announcing the cities very, very soon.

"I am going to go up to L.A. this week, I believe to do some mixing with Lance for the DVD that Kevin Flaherty of EMI is masterminding. This DVD is going to be rad! And there is a slight taste of some stuff on the limited edition bonus CD/DVD that is going to be released this summer on the Greatest Hits record. I finally approved all of the artwork, and am very pleased with the package. I hope you will be too.

"I have a few bands left to listen to this week before I make up my mind for the last slots on the second stage, and we will notify you who they are as soon as we finish it up!

"Droogs, I am having the time of my life with all of this, and I appreciate all of your enthusiasm and all of your suggestions. This will be so kewl!"

Et on remet ça, ça vous avez manqué j'en suis sur!! Megadeth se barre de son label

MEGADETH founder and frontman Dave Mustaine has officially parted ways with Sanctuary Records. The legendary, multi-platinum group released three albums on Sanctuary, including 2004's critically acclaimed "The System Has Failed", which debuted at No. 18 on The Billboard 200 chart.

The latest MEGADETH release, "Greatest Hits: Back to the Start" (Capitol), entered the Billboard chart at No. 65 and has sold 28,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. On the concert front, MEGADETH are performing this summer on the inaugural Gigantour package tour with DREAM THEATER, FEAR FACTORY and others. The six-week festival trek — with the fan-friendly ticket price of approximately $35 each — is the brainchild of Mustaine, who hand-picked the bands for Gigantour, with a focus on musicianship.
