Message Kamelot - Silverthorn
Le précédent ne m'avais pas convaincu, d'ailleurs je m'en souviens à peine, le prochain est en cours de préparation, Thomas Youngblood parle de la prochaine entrée en studio :

The official German KAMELOT fan site recently conducted an interview with the band's guitarist, Thomas Youngblood. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

Q: KAMELOT will enter the studio in June to record the new album. Will you start recording the new songs at that point, or will you use the time in the studio to finish writing while the whole band is together?

Thomas Youngblood: First we will sit down with our producers and discuss the songs, ideas, basic direction and how we want the album to sound. Then we will simultaneously work on finished songs as well finish songs that are not yet 100% complete. The overall recording process will take 3-4 months.

Q: Do you already know in which direction the songs for the new album will go?

Thomas Youngblood: Not yet, we have a good idea on some of it but the songs are not complete enough to have an overall direction. It will combine the style of the last three albums and we will add some new twists and turns.

Q: Will there be a longer song on the CD like "Memento Mori" or something special like the Elizabeth trilogy?

Thomas Youngblood: It seems so. One of the first ideas we had in Norway was a pretty epic piece that has a killer chorus. We don't set any particular goals in terms of how long a song will be or fast slow etc. We just want to write good songs and if we find the right vibe for a long one or two, then that's cool too.

Q: A lot of bands do special events with an orchestra these days like WITHIN TEMPTATION did with "The Black Symphony" or the EPICA show in Miskolc. Is KAMELOT thinking about something like this too, and if yes, are there any specific plans at the moment?

Thomas Youngblood: Well, to be honest, I feel like the orchestra thing is a bit overdone. It's not so special since quite a few bands have already attempted this. We have some ideas that are related to such an event but it would be done quite different and only for a special shoot, like a DVD, for example. So, I guess the answer is yes but in a unique way that only our fans deserve.

Q: You have been shooting material for a new DVD at Wacken, Assen and other festivals last year and also recorded parts of the Hard Rock Cafe after-show party for the bonus material. Can you tell us a bit more about the planned content of the DVD and when it will be released?

Thomas Youngblood: In this day and age, DVDs are becoming more and more important. So we are shooting video all the time, sometimes with high-budget cameras, other times with our personal HD cameras. We want to have plenty of footage to go through for the next DVD we are planning. It will be based on the next big tour and include the best of the best bonus footage from studio to the stage.

Q: KAMELOT's stage show is perfect for a larger stage, as everyone knows who has seen the "One Cold Winter's Night" DVD. But everyone who has been to a concert in a smaller venue knows what an intense and unforgettable experience it is. Technical and financial aspects aside, do you prefer to play in a large venue or in a small club?

Thomas Youngblood: There are benefits to both types of shows. On one hand, playing a large stage gives the fans a different visual and the band more space to move and perform. In a smaller venue, the crowd is right there on us and we like that a lot. Also we like it when the walls are sweating from the heat we all generate together. I distinctly remember playing in Tempe, Arizona and the temperature outside was over 100 degrees (Fahrenheit). After the first song, we were all drenched, [and] one girl in the front row passed out from the heat. It was one of many intense shows!

Q: The band has done six videos by now. Do you like making videos or is it just a necessary burden?

Thomas Youngblood: We love making videos; it's like being an actor for one day in the year. I think videos are now so important for a band like KAMELOT that wants to let new fans see and hear what we are about. We have been very fortunate to have great directors like Ivan from Icode and Patric Ullaeus from Revolver.

earMUSIC, the international rock label of the Hamburg-based entertainment group Edel, has announced the signing of American/Norwegian melodic metallers KAMELOT. The band's new studio album, "Poetry For The Poisoned", will be released in Europe on September 3, 2010.

KAMELOT is one of metal's most unique, influential and prestigious acts to come along in decades. The group's reputation among fans and media alike is marked by enthusiasm as well as esteem, with each of their eight studio albums to date surpassing its predecessor in terms of songwriting, production and commercial results. As one of the most difficult-to-categorize artists on the metal scene, KAMELOT is ready to release its most insightful and ambitious album to date, "Poetry for the Poisoned".

Throughout the recent years, KAMELOT's releases have achieved cult status around the world, and "Poetry for the Poisoned" will "once again raise the bar for others to follow," according to a press release. "The new studio album blends their trademark KAMELOT sound with new elements and a creation of musical art that will set a new standard in the genre."

"Poetry for the Poisoned" was mostly written in the remote woods of Norway to the final songwriting sessions in a remote region of Germany. The compositions take the listener through many emotions and dynamics that touch the soul and the mind.

"I think this album is by far our most diverse, fusing new ideas and elements along with the traditional KAMELOT sound and style that we have established over the years," states KAMELOT guitarist Thomas Youngblood.

Recordings took place in the familiar Gate Studios in Wolfsburg, Germany with producers Sascha Paeth and Miro. Additional tracking also took place in Tampa, Florida as well as various studios in Sweden, Greece and the U.S.

"Poetry for the Poisoned" features guest appearances by Simone Simons (EPICA), Gus G. (OZZY OSBOURNE, FIREWIND), Björn "Speed" Strid (SOILWORK) and Jon Oliva (SAVATAGE, JON OLIVA'S PAIN). The artwork was created by many great artists, including Seth Siro Anton, Natalie Shau and Michal Loranc.

"'Poetry for the Poisoned' is a mix of progressive elements, modern rock, dark arts and also power metal," states Youngblood. "It comes at a time where many people around the world are searching for something to grab on to spiritually, including myself. I recently lost my mother and to be honest it was very hard on me. So there are some melancholy moods reflected on this album."

Frontman Roy Khan assures that "Poetry for the Poisoned" will both please the band's existing following and expose the universe of KAMELOT to a whole range of new fans. "'Poetry for the Poisoned' is our longest and toughest production so far, but when I hear the result I know it was well worth the struggle," he says.

Max Vaccaro, director of the earMUSIC label, commented: "If there is one thing that is absolutely clear with KAMELOT, it's that the band has a unique vision of metal and they consider anything they do as the 'next step' to something bigger and better, constantly adamant to reach new ambitious artistic targets. We're happy about the fact that they have chosen earMUSIC as the partner to expand their audience with this new wonderful album."

"Poetry For The Poisoned" will also be available as a limited edition hard-cover digipak CD with a bonus DVD, LP and limited collector's edition featuring a bonus 45" vinyl with two rare songs only available on this strictly limited format, personally signed by the band.

KAMELOT recently tapped Swedish director Owe Lingvall of Village Road Films for the video shoot and production of the song "The Great Pandemonium". The track, which was performed on the band's recently completed European tour, will appear on "Poetry For The Poisoned". Other songtitles set to appear on the effort include "House On A Hill" and "Hunters Season", the latter of which was also performed on the band's recently completed European headlining tour.

Simone Simons — the longtime girlfriend of KAMELOT keyboardist Oliver Palotai — previously appeared on the song "The Haunting", which was included on KAMELOT's 2005 album "The Black Halo".

KAMELOT recently inked a deal with Marquee/Avalon Records for the Japanese release of its next album.

KAMELOT will embark on its first North American tour in two years this fall. Support on the trek will come from LEAVES' EYES and BLACKGUARD.

KAMELOT is:

Roy Khan - Vocals
Thomas Youngblood - Guitar
Casey Grillo - Drums
Oliver Palotai - Keyboards
Sean Tibbets - Bass

Citation:
American/Norwegian melodic metallers KAMELOT have released the following statement:

"The band and crew are all here in Tampa rehearsing for the tour — visas have been cleared and the guys are in good spirits and ready to party with all of you. However, during rehearsals, Roy [Khan; full name: Roy Sætre Khantatat] became severely ill. Due to this, as yet undiagnosed, illness, Roy reluctantly has been forced to head back home to Norway. He is currently under his physician's care, but, unfortunately, these circumstances will prevent him from joining us on the North American concert tour. Of course, we want Roy to take care of his health as priority one for now and for the future.

"After much consideration on how to proceed, all of us in KAMELOT feel strongly about keeping our commitment to our fans, promoters, and support bands on this tour! We are all ready and excited about playing these shows, we have flown in people from around the world to be apart of it and it has been in the works over a year! Therefore, we are working diligently with a fantastic singer willing to step in at the eleventh hour in order to make this tour a reality — our good friend Michael [Eriksen; pictured below] from CIRCUS MAXIMUS (Norway) has agreed to fill in for Roy! And we are excited to announce a special guest: Swedish vocalist Elize Ryd from AMARANTHE will be joining the band on the North American tour. She will also be part of the VIP meet-and-greet! Elize toured with us on our Summer Pandemonium Tour and also the European tour earlier this spring.

"Also as a special thank you to our North American fans, our friends at ESP guitars have donated a beautiful ESP guitar which will be signed by [KAMELOT guitarist] Thomas Youngblood and given away at the end of our North American tour — this contest is open only to North American tour concert-goers. Fans can enter for a chance to win this exclusive item by signing up in the designated area at each show! More surprises are in store at many shows including special guest appearances and more."

Commented Roy: "I am terribly sorry that I cannot do this upcoming tour in North America this fall. We have our most fantastic album ever coming out in September, and the timing could have been better, I guess. The band has my full and unconditional blessing to go out there and kick ass regardless, and I feel we have found a good replacement in Michael. He is a very good singer and longtime friend. Be good to him! Hope to see you soon!"

Michael stated: "Roy and I go way back, so when he called and asked me to help him and the rest of KAMELOT to do their long planned USA tour, I told him, 'Sure, bro, I am there for you.'

"It will be big shoes to fill , but in his honor I will do my best to give the KAMELOT fans a show they have long awaited. So grab your earplugs and come join the party!"
