Good Evening all,...
Just a quick web log to fill you in with the juicy details of the first week of recording. Kev is generally better at rabbiting on about things therefore it will not be as well versed as one of his J
Well to start with things could not have gone smoother. We checked in at the airport in time and hassle free. The flight was nice, I managed to sleep through all of it (my kind of flight) and the gods must have been looking down on us…this was the first flight in I don't know how many where ALL our equipment arrived when we did and at the same place.
I'll not bore you with travelling stories so I'll jump to the first day in the studio. We were up nice and early and everyone was sweating freely before they were fully conscious. This was the unbroken trend for the rest of the week. We Englishmen are not fully used to the sun. For the most part Kev and Dario were laying out and setting up all the 10 tracks (tempo's, pre recorded guide tracks etc.)But there was time at the end of the day to put the first drum track down. I picked a nice easy one to get into the feel. I got that done in a couple of takes and Dario treated me to a quick mix of the kit to see what sort of sound I could expect…Bugger me it sounded grand.
That night we had a celebratory first day drink and a kebab down on the beach, lovely J
The next day was pretty full on. Playing the drums from 10:00 till 18:00 with a 30 minute break. It was very hot in my little drum box but I managed to get 7 songs recorded
That night we had an even bigger second day drink. Too big though as we were all suffering the next day. What professionals (see if you can spot which photo's are the day after the BIG second night drink, it's not so hard)
That just left me with two songs to play. It seems quite fitting that in my rather delicate state, one of them was the rather fast paced 'still small beer'. But I got them both done by dinner time and having completed all my parts in a day and a half commenced my holiday in Italy J
Bean was up next, He got about four songs done with what was left of the day, I think and spent the next day and a bit finishing off (so he thought) the rest.
By that time the general feel in the studio was that we were surprisingly well rehearsed. And that the album is going to be monstrous. On a night time over a few beers (surprise, surprise) we were talking about which songs we will be doing live and in all honesty the decision we made was that all the songs are good enough to play live. Although some of them will be very hard to play live. With out giving too much away (this is for the musicians) and I hope I don't get wrong off Steve for saying this. One of the songs goes from 9/4 to 15/8 to 5/4. We are looking forward to seeing people dance to that one.
My information gets a bit vague from now because with me and Bean both being finished we decided to make a bit of a holiday out of it and become the typical pink English tourists and do some sight seeing. During this time Steve was putting down the rhythm guitar and two days later before we knew it they were done. I'm sure Kev will go over this in more detail when he gets back
On our last full day Bean found out he was not finished. While Steve was doing the rhythm guitars he noticed a few 'inventive' parts to bean's bass lines which needed redoing, it didn't take long though and from there I had some percussion parts to play and then some nice group backing vocals as you will or will have seen in the video clip.
So to some the first week up, it was very productive to say the least. We had all the drum and percussion parts, all the bass, all the rhythm guitars and all but a few of the lead guitar parts done. And the current situation is still looking as productive. I gat an SMS from Steve saying all the violin and I pretty much all the vocals are done. Steve seems very excited about the way things are sounding.
Ok then, I think that's enough for now. I'm sure when Kev gets home you'll have a full studio report. And most importantly a new album. Hurrah. We are scheduling a release date for October 2012 J Only joking.
Best wishes
Arron

Le groupe a une nouvelle maison de disques :
SKYCLAD, the seminal British band which is often referred to as "the originator of folk metal," has signed a deal with Scarlet Records. The group's twelfth album, "In The… All Together", is due in the spring. The CD, which was recorded and mixed by Dario Mollo (THE CAGE, VOODOO HILL) at Damage Inc Studio, in Ventimiglia, Italy during August 2008, "mixes the usual thrash/speed metal influences with the extraordinary folk melodies that made the band famous all around the world, maintaining a fresh and dynamic approach which gives a strong live dimension to the new songs," according to a press release.

J'attends ça avec impatience, d'autant que A Semblance of Normality était franchement pas mal. Vu la régularité du groupe, en plus, j'ai bon espoir.

Des news :
KYCLAD, the seminal British band which is often referred to as "the originator of folk metal," has issued the following update:
"Just a note to say that we are awakening from our hibernation to start doing some gigs in support of the new album, 'In The... All Together'. First up, we have a 'warm-up' gig at Langley Park, Durham on Sunday, May 2. This is a charity gig, and for those who are making the trip I said I would post the post code for the old Sat Nav (it is Front Street, Langley Park, Durham, DH7 9SG as far as I can guess). I've posted this info on the events page and hopefully we'll meet up there and share a jar and a chat for the forthcoming year."
SKYCLAD's twelfth album, "In The… All Together" was released via Scarlet Records.
