PURPLE RAINBOW is a new project featuring a lineup of musicians who were part of several of the most influential bands in hard/classic rock: from DEEP PURPLE and RAINBOW to BLACK SABBATH and DIO.

PURPLE RAINBOW is:

Joe Lynn Turner (RAINBOW, DEEP PURPLE, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN) - Vocals
Bobby Rondinelli (RAINBOW, BLACK SABBATH) - Drums
Tony Carey (RAINBOW, PLANET P. PROJECT) - Keyboards
Craig Goldy (DIO) - Guitar

Keyboardist Tony Carey explains: "Now the members of PURPLE RAINBOW have fulfilled a personal and professional dream and stepped into the spotlight to present the music that is our passion. Driven by our love of performing and their desire to revive the golden years of hard rock, we're staging a return to authentic music that comes from the heart and soul."

The list of memorable songs from their collective discographies is never-ending and includes "Man on the Silver Mountain", "Stone Cold", "Stargazer", "Long Live Rock 'n' Roll", "Street of Dreams", "Smoke on the Water", "Highway Star", "Burn" and many more.

The band is currently looking to book concerts in 2009.


Je ne sais pas trop quoi en penser, décidémment JLT accumule les projets. Ca pourrait donner des concerts sympa quand même.

Goldy est censé remplacer Blackmore ? C'est drôle.

Le nom racoleur du groupe fait quand même un peu pitié, ça fait mal au cœur pour eux de les voir en être arrivés là

Je comprends pas pourquoi Turner s'entête à chanter des titres où il n'est pas très bon (Smoke on the water, Burn et Highway Star surtout) au lieu de chanter ses propres titres.

Ca craint. On a presque tous les plus mauvais zicos de toutes les formations citées. Chapeau !

Lynn Turner est très différent de Dio, pas moins bon.
Et je trouve que Craig Goldie sur Dream Evil s'en sort haut la main et n'a pas à rougir face à Vivian "j'ai le même nom que la soupe en boîte, c'est pas étonnant que je finisse dans Def Lep" Campbell

J'ai un faible pour Campbell. Sûrement le côté virtuose.

Par contre, pour Joe Lynn, je n'ai pas encore entendu son "Stargazer"... Voilà pour moi la différence... Il n'a pas joué sur Rising, ni sur In Rock, ni sur Machine Head. Il reste pour moi assez anecdotique, loin derrière Gillan ou Coverdale.

C'te misère....

C'est sur qu'il n'a pas joué sur les plus grand disques de ces groupes, et pour les compos marquante, ne lui fait pas de faux procés, c'est pas lui qui composait. Et puis quand même, "I surrender" ou "Street of dreams", c'est la grande classe!

Turner est un bon chanteur, moins marquant que ses illustres prédécesseurs, mais il a une voix quand même très agréable.

Quant à Goldy, à part Dream Evil, il n'a quand même pas fait grand chose de bon...

On est d'accord pour Goldy, c'est pas le gratteux du siècle. L'autre album qu'il a fait avec Dio est pourri (c'est lequel... Magica ? Ou le suivant avec le dragon ? Me souviens plus).
Mais sur Dream Evil il assure autant que ce gros frimeur de Campbell (qu'est pas à chier non plus mais bon...). Bref, c'est pas le plus mauvais des gratteux de Dio... Y a quand même eu Rowen truc (le jeunot sorti de nulle part) et c'te tanche de Doug Aldrich (dont on a pu admirer le talent étincelant sur le dernier Whitesnake... ahahaha).

A present y à ça : vive la loose

Former RAINBOW musicians Joe Lynn Turner, Tony Carey, Bobby Rondinelli and Greg Smith have united with a second-generation Blackmore to form OVER THE RAINBOW.

OVER THE RAINBOW is:

Carey, who has produced several artists (including Joe Cocker and David Knopfler) since his RAINBOW days, says, "Having done everything from country to opera, I thought it would be fun to play some rock again without the burden of singing everything."

Rondinelli adds, "OVER THE RAINBOW reunites members of one of the most distinctive sounding bands of all time and introduces a hidden treasure to the world in J.R. Blackmore."

The son of the iconic RAINBOW founder/guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, Jürgen Blackmore is a critically acclaimed guitarist in his own right and agreed to join this endeavor after realizing how intense the demand was for a RAINBOW "reunion." OVER THE RAINBOW marks the first time that four members from three different eras of RAINBOW will take the stage together along with J.R. Blackmore.

C'est carrément comique. Ca donnerait presque envie d'écouter ces mecs tiens.

J.R Blackmore n'a pas fait grand chose de transcendant il me semble, un gratteux instru comme un autre qui n'a pâs le feeling et le touché de son père.

Ah ouais, y'a bien 5 titres qui sont chantés par JLT à l'origine.

Ils passent à Göteborg (je suis là bas pour un an) le mois prochain, j'ai envie d'y aller, histoire de voir Turner chanter I Surrender et cie. Pour les autres morceaux, Dio passe en décembre (la même semaine que Alice Coope et In Flames -dans leur fief!. J'aime cette ville).
