" TONY LEVIN: DMG are also to release Tony Levin's "Stick Man" of which a limited number of pre-orders will be signed by Tony at no extra charge. "Stick Man is a step in a new direction for me. Or perhaps in an old direction, because, from what listeners are telling me, it's come out quite Crimson-like. That could be because of the great participation by Pat Mastelotto on drums and percussion - also I was aiming at more raw, playing-oriented tracks. Backing off from the composition based writing I'd done recently, I've tried to feature not only both sides of the Stick, but some unusual bass techniques and sounds. There are a lot of tracks, (17) and it's mostly instrumental (especially if you consider my shouting not to be a song!) Oh, and we've decided it'd be nice to have me autograph the DGM pre-orders (and in fact I'm holed up in Cape Cod doing that right now -- nice to put the pen down and type a bit!) so if you pre-order, you'll have that, fairly legibly, on your CD! Hope to see you at a concert this coming year." - Tony This CD, Tony Levin's 5th solo outing, is a breakthrough in numerous ways. It features the Chapman Stick (in addition to his basses) in ways it hasn't been heard before. With 17 tracks, 58 minutes of music, it's a prodigeous release - three tracks have Tony's vocals, the rest are unique sounding progressive instrumentals. Most of the drumming on the CD is by King Crimson drummer Pat Mastelotto, and Crimson fans will hear some tracks here that are reminiscent of the group.
THE TRACKS: 1) Welcome 2) Gut String Theory 3) Speedbump 4) Slow Glide 5) Shraag T 6) Not Just Another Pretty Bass 7) El Mercado 8) Orange Alert 9) In Her Locket 10) Rising Waters 11) Metro 12) Zeros to Disk 13) Sticky Fingers 14) Rivers of Light 15) Chop Shop 16) The Gorgon Sisters Have a Chat 17) Dark Blues"
Avis aux amateurs !

Mastelotto + Levin, ça suffit à susciter mon intérêt.

Un truc qui peut faire mal... : SCHOOL OF THE ARTS - School Of The Arts, sortie le 24/09/2007.
T. LAVITZ : Piano, Basse (3), Production & Compositions (sauf 7, 9)
Dave WECKL : Batterie & Percussion
Frank GAMBALE : Guitare acoustique & Compositions (7, 9)
John PATITUCCI: Basses acoustique & électrique
Jerry GOODMAN : Violon (2, 5, 8)
Steve MORSE : Guitare acoustique (3, 4)

News sur SYLVAN ( http://www.sylvan.de):
NEWS - SEPTEMBER 20th - JUST THE FOUR OF US
Even if we are all happy about the successful "Posthumous Silence Show", we have to make an announcement, which will touch the SYLVAN fan: Kay Söhl – our long time guitarist – has definitely left the band.
The reasons are multiple and we can assure you that for both sides this step was not easy at all. Finally it was the best solution and it is important now to know where we stand! Kay will turn towards new projects in the future and we will continue at the moment with guest guitarists until we have found a worthy successor!
NEWS - SEPTEMBER 18th - "POSTHUMOUS SILENCE - THE SHOW"
What a great show, what a wonderful atmosphere!
Concert hall sold out (total of attendances appr. 500), spectators from all around Europe, a stage with a width of 12 meters, six guest musicians, ten camera men, two photographers, three sound technicians, three light technicians, five stage technicians and numerous assistants …
Eventually we were able to present our music in an opulent setting appropriate for our music. And the spectators was infected by this atmosphere. We hardly ever had such a great audience – thank you for all this!
We would like to tell you that the DVD is ready and the release will take place during the next weeks. But unfortunately it isn’t this easy. The same demand and standard we had for the settings of the show will be applied to the recordings. We have around 60 hours of images and appr. 600 GB of audio material to screen, to cut, to mix and to unite into one DVD.
Even if we are all happy about the successful "Posthumous Silence Show", we have to make an announcement, which will touch the SYLVAN fan: Kay Söhl – our long time guitarist – has definitely left the band.

Kay will turn towards new projects in the future and we will continue at the moment with guest guitarists until we have found a worthy successor!
With some luck the DVD will be available in the beginning of 2008. We will see …
(...)
Have fun!

" UKZ: UKZ is the name of the new band of Eddie Jobson, together with Trey Gunn, Aaron Lippert, Alex Machacek and Marco Minnemann. The announcement really came out of nowhere, after some rumours had been floating around for the last few weeks. It seems pretty real though, with an official website launched at www.ukzband.com The following comes from Abstract Logix: Announcing "UKZ" - the definitive musicians' band, formed by keyboard and electric-violin legend Eddie Jobson. Returning from a self-imposed 27-year retirement from band and touring activity, the reclusive progressive-music pioneer and 'UK' co-founder set out to find the same caliber of next-generation musicians for the new UKZ project that would equal or surpass the talents of his previous colleagues and collaborators - an impressive list that includes Frank Zappa, Robert Fripp, Bill Bruford, Phil Collins, John Entwistle, Ian Anderson, Simon Phillips, Terry Bozzio, Allan Holdsworth, and Tony Levin.
Eddie Jobson--who was born and raised in the Durham area of England--has hand-selected a truly international dream-band of virtuosos from around the world.
Aaron Lippert--a citizen of Belgium, but born and raised in New York--the former lead singer and songwriter for Columbia recording artists Expanding Man.
Trey Gunn--a Texas native, currently residing in Seattle--a ten-year veteran of King Crimson and the leading exponent of the Warr touch guitar.
Alex Machacek--from Vienna, Austria--an award-winning guitar prodigy and composer. Dont forget to check out his two releases on Abstract Logix.
Marco Minnemann--from Hannover, Germany--a drumming phenomenon of unparalleled virtuosity.
Fittingly, for an international 21st-century band that formed on the internet, the group are working together digitally, exchanging music and video files electronically from their respective cities. Their self-titled debut album is slated for release in February 2008, and the "One City World Tour" special-event premier concert will take place on January 25, 2008 in Los Angeles [details to be announced].
Also at the L.A. concert will be the world premier of Tony Levin's "Project Sticks," with stick player Michael Bernier joining Tony, along with former King Crimson drummer Pat Mastelotto."
Rien que le nom du projet déjà... Viiite !!!

BLACKFIELD – Live In New-York City – 2007

" KING CRIMSON: Ending weeks of speculation in various online communities, Robert Fripp has revealed in his latest online diary that drummer Gavin Harrison (of Porcupine Tree) will be joining King Crimson.
The following news came from Sid Smith of DGM Live: The band will be playing a series of live dates in Chicago’s Park West – most recently the venue to RF and the LoCG appearance in the windy city. Fripp notes “Park West is a fave venue, and one I have been working for 27 years. The LCG were here in 1989 & 1990... This is also the venue where, according to our current plans for King Crimson’s return to active-service in 2008, preparatory to the 40th. Anniversary Celebration of 2009, The Beast Of Crim will be playing a 4-night residency in August 2008 with KC’s third double-drumming formation.
The first formation: Jamie Muir & Bill Bruford (1972-73); the second formation: Pat Mastelotto & Bill Bruford (1994-97); the third formation: Pat Mastelotto & Gavin Harrison.
A fourth double-drumming formation, of 1981-84 (Adrian & Billy B), doesn’t quite count as Adrian’s primary focus was in the front line.”
Harrison is one of the most respected drummers of his generation, adding a prodigious technique to the work of Porcupine Tree as well collaborating with Jakko Jakszyk on The Bruised Romantic Glee Club, and most recently, Drop – an album with bassist and singer, 05Ric and also featuring contributions from Fripp. Some may recall Drop was featured as a DGMLive giveaway (see my review on the blog), perhaps hinting at Harrison's proposed involvement. Only DGMLive regular, Chocolatefireguard, spotted the listing on King Crimson's myspace site: the top four musicians have been there for a couple of months now. More details will be announced regarding rehearsal schedules and ticket availability as soon as we get them."
