Triple bonne nouvelle !

- Un DVD enregistré à New York en novembre devrait sortir en avril.

- Un album est en préparation. Sortie prévue cet automne.

- Une tournée européenne devrait débuter en juin. Un p'tit passage par la France ça serait cool.

THE CULT will enter the studio next month to begin pre-production on the group's first album since 2001's "Beyond Good and Evil". A fall release is expected. Also planned for release is a DVD of the band's November 13, 2006 concert at Irving Plaza in New York City, tentatively due in April.

THE CULT's current touring lineup includes principals Ian Astbury (vocals) and Billy Duffy (guitar) alongside bassist Chris Wyse, drummer John Tempesta (ex-WHITE ZOMBIE, TESTAMENT, EXODUS, HELMET) and rhythm guitarist Mike Dimkich. New THE CULT European tour dates are being booked for June, with many more shows to follow in the fall and winter.

Ils ont signé chez Roadrunner et leur album devrait sortir le 25 septembre. Pour couronner le tout ils sont en tourner avec les Who.

As reported here earlier today, Roadrunner Records has now confirmed the signing of multi-platinum alternative rock band THE CULT, the influential U.K. group who have built an extensive global fan base with hits such as "She Sells Sanctuary", "Rain", "Wild Flower", "Love Removal Machine", "Edie", "The Witch" and "Rise". A new studio album, the first since 2001, is currently being recorded in London with producer Youth (VERVE, PRIMAL SCREAM), who will be adding final touches and mixing. The expected release date for the yet-untitled album is September 25, 2007 and the CD will be released in conjunction with THE CULT's imprint label, New Wilderness.

THE CULT, led by founding members vocalist Ian Astbury and guitarist Billy Duffy, will embark on a series of European arena shows with rock legends THE WHO starting June 5. The band will be adding headline dates and festival appearances along the route, building on the overwhelming reaction to their 2006 sell-out world tour. A U.S. headline tour will follow in the fall.

"We have always dreamed of finding a label that allows us artistic freedom and has the muscle to get the music to the people," comments Astbury. "At the heart of this recording is an urban directness of savage rawness and an earnestness that is the center of any great rock and roll band."

"What's especially great about THE CULT," A&R men Derek Oliver and Dante Bonutto state, "is their instinctive ability to live in the present, not just reflecting current taste but actually helping to shape it — something you can hear in Ian's contributions to the UNKLE project. They have a magnificent and hugely influential history, but when you bring the classic and the contemporary crashing together in the way that Ian and Billy can, it gives real potential for this new album to be their most exciting ever."

C'est cool de voir des mecs apprécier ce groupe. J'ai l'impression que personne ne les connait alors qu'ils étaient connus à la fin des années 80/début 90. Ok leur carrière a été plus que chaotique par la suite mais quand même...

Enfin heureux que ça déterre le Yéti.

THE CULT has set "Born Into This" as the title of its new album, tentatively due on September 25 via Roadrunner Records in conjunction with THE CULT's imprint label, New Wilderness. The group's first CD since 2001 is currently being recorded in London with producer Youth (VERVE, PRIMAL SCREAM), who will be adding final touches and mixing.

THE CULT guitarist Billy Duffy told ChartAttack.com back in March, "We've got some ideas [for a new CD] down, circulating. Each album gets its own life and while it's early to really tell with this one because it's in the formative stages, it still feels trashy and sort of ramshackle, which I like. [Singer] Ian [Astbury] isn't singing with THE DOORS anymore and I think that's lifted his spirits for a CULT record, too."

Athsbury a eu un peu de mal a decoller en début de concert, d'autant qu'il a été trés juste vocalement, le mec s'économisait c'etait flagrant, et devait, en prime, avoir quelque petit problèmes de retour, le son etait correct mais sans plus, Billy Duffy, lui n'avait aucuns problèmes au niveau de l'aisance, peut etre un petit peu avec sa table de pédale car il arretait pas de converser avec son technicien a chaques fois qu'il utilisait, mais ça ne s'entendait pas, bref aucuns titre du nouvel album a priori, le culte a préféré s'etendre sur ses anciens titres en esperant que certains les connaissaient, ce qui n'etait pas trop le cas, il devait y'avoir que moi dans la salle qui chantait comme un con lol .
Bref bon chauffe salle tout de même, ma copine fut elle même conquise.

Sinon ben les Who c'etait une tuerie pure, je n'ai jamis vu un son aussi net et clair a Bercy, mais je suis déjà Hors sujet, je vais pas m'étendre.

(EDIT) ils ont joué "Edie (ciao baby)" aussi.

The Cult je ne connaissais même pas de nom, j'ai pas trop accroché. Par contre The Who c'était énorme, je ne regrette pas mon AR Lyon - Bercy. Les deux heures sont passées bien trop vite, et ça c'est loin d'être souvent le cas!

C'est pas mal. On dirait qu'ils ont écouté les groupes de rock actuels, comme les Queens of the stone age, des trucs comme ça.
Enfin ils ont compris qu'ils étaient mauvais pour faire du heavy, c'est déjà une bonne chose :clin:
