"URIAH HEEP : have signed a new, exclusive worldwide recording deal with Sanctuary Records.
The band will be recording their first album since 1998's Sonic Origami in March/April of this year. The as yet untitled album - which will be Heep's 21st official studio album - is scheduled for release during late summer and will feature at least ten new tracks, produced by Mike Paxman.

'We thought very carefully about the new deal before deciding that Sanctuary is the natural home for the band at this moment in time. They know the band well and have done an extremely good on marketing the back catalogue. Faut avouer que ça fait un bon moment qu'il nous promette un album, le syndrome chinese democracy. Mais bon moi j'y crois. Par contre j'ai du mal à imaginer qu'ils fassent un retour au feeling d'origine avec le line-up actuel.

Ca me fait penser que j'ai toujours pas écouté Sonic Origami :roll:

Le retour aux sources, je le sentais venir gros comme une maison 8-)

Sonic Origami est pas mal, si on oublie les 36 ballades qu'il contient.
Bernie Shaw chante très bien les classiques de l'ère Byron, et ça faisait plus de 5 ans qu'Uriah Heep était devenu un tribute-band de leur vieux répertoire, en alternant tournées électriques et acoustiques à l'infini. Ce retour aux sources est presque logique.

Finalement ça reste pas mal dans la lignée de l'excellent Sea of light, et ces morceaux sont vraiment très bon! Espérons que l'album soit à la hauteur mais là je le sens bien.

L'album était programmé pour mars 2008, mais comme Universal ne semble pas pressé de le sortir (Uriah Heep n'étant pas la priorité du label), il est question que le groupe se trouve un autre label.
Vu l'état du marché du disque, le temps de trouver un autre label qui s'intéresse à eux, ça devrait prendre 6 mois ou un an.
Ils ont jamais été foutu de se trouver un bon label en 25 ans donc rien de neuf.

Universal Music has announced the release of a new studio album from British rock legends URIAH HEEP in June 2008.

"Wake The Sleeper" will be URIAH HEEP's first studio album in almost ten years (the first since 1998's "Sonic Origami") and is set to herald an exciting new phase for the band. The album sees URIAH HEEP back to their very best and is set to become a future classic — sure to please their dedicated worldwide fan base and fans of progressive rock in general. Recorded in 2007 the album was produced by Mike Paxman (STATUS QUO, JUDIE TZUKE). In the words of Mick Box, "We are delighted to be reunited with a major label in Universal music. 'Wake The Sleeper' is an album we are incredibly proud of, and one that we hope the fans will see as one of URIAH HEEP's best. We can't wait to get back out on the road to showcase the new songs."

The live arena has been vital to the longevity of URIAH HEEP. So in addition to album sales of over 30 million worldwide the band have toured in 52 countries and established themselves as consummate live performers. The band has a series of impressive firsts including being the first British rock band to play Russia in December 1987.

This is the band's first album without their long-standing and original drummer Lee Kerslake who sadly had to leave the band due to ill health in January 2007. Filling the drum stool for the very first time is the hugely well-respected Russell Gilbrook (Tony Iommi, Van Morrison, John Farnham and Lonnie Donnegan).

Ils ont bien choisi le titre de l'album, je suppose qu'il y'à de l'autodérision dans tout ça.

Les titres diffusés sur youtube étaient en tout cas carrément excellent.

J'ai rien écouté, je préfère attendre de l'avoir chez moi.
Du moment qu'il n'y a pas 15 ballades comme sur le précédent (Sonic Origami), ça devrait le faire.

J'y vais très rarement là bas, on doit être 4.
Et puis leur nostalgie Byron-ienne me fatigue un peu.
L'intérêt du Heep, c'est d'être un groupe multi-facette, quelle que soit les
périodes que j'apprécie dans leur globalité.
Bon la période Ken Hensley jusqu'en 1980 reste la meilleure, c'est sur, mais après y'a du bon aussi même si c'est plus inégal.
Autrement dit, ça n'a jamais été le genre de groupe à sortir le même disque pendant 20 ans d'affilé.
