Celebrating the fifth anniversary of Absolva’s first ever live show (SOS Festival, July 2012), the band is to release its’ fourth studio album, entitled ‘Defiance’, on 28th July 2017 and now reveal the artwork, track listing and pre-order fanpacks. The new record features 12 brand new studio recordings as well as a bonus CD which includes the last single ‘Harsh Reality’ plus 3 tracks and a drum solo recorded live at Huskvarna Rock and Art event (Sweden 2016), together with 3 acoustic versions of songs from the band’s catalogue.

The front cover image is a fitting reprise of the band’s original artwork by Mike Collins, Lungfull Design for the debut album ‘Flames of Justice’ which featured what has become casually known as the ‘alien womb’ image and has been included to a lesser degree in all the band’s subsequent coverart. This time the ‘alien womb’ has a re-vamp by Caio Caldes of Cadiesart who also designed the artwork for the last album ‘Never A Good Day to Die’ and the ‘Harsh Reality single. The back cover of the new album also features a dystopian style street scene in keeping with the defiant theme of some of the new songs.

Frontman Chris Appleton has this to say ‘Especially as this new album has taken longer to emerge than previous Absolva records, we wanted to offer our fans something very special and after looking at different possibilities and fan suggestions, we decided to do a double CD which includes live tracks and acoustic tracks. We were very happy with the audio captured at our debut Swedish show last year at the Huskvarna festival, so it was a great chance to use that and many fans had suggested acoustic versions of some songs too. Also, Martin’s drum solo proves very popular in our set so that gets a well-deserved place as well’.
