EDGUY frontman Tobias Sammet has confirmed via his official web site that he is currently working on the third installment of his solo project AVANTASIA. "Again it's going to be a conceptual album with different musicians and singers," he writes.

"You ask why I am doing it? Because I can! Because I am dying to go for it! And because the time has come that I feel ready and strong enough to start something big, bombastic and monumental again! Believe me: you won't find any other man on the face of the earth who has got more work and stress right now — and who's yet as happy as I am. It's so exciting to see another dream of mine take shape."

AVANTASIA's last release was the two-part epic called "The Metal Opera" (issued in 2001 and 2002), which featured an impressive array of guest vocalists playing the various characters of the opera, including Michael Kiske (ex-HELLOWEEN), David DeFeis (VIRGIN STEELE), Sharon Den Adel (WITHIN TEMPTATION), Kai Hansen (GAMMA RAY), André Matos (ANGRA, SHAAMAN), Timo Tolkki (STRATOVARIUS), Rob Rock (WARRIOR), and others.

boa, si il s y consacre de la meme maniere qu au premier volet, et qu il nous dispense de compos dechets comme sur le second, ça peut etre sympathique.
un bon casting faisant passer le tout comme une bonne sauce sur un plat pas vraiment digeste

Si les deux premiers servaient de brouillons et qu'il a tiré un petit enseignement des faiblesses précédentes, ça pourrait le faire. Mais globalement ni l'un ni l'autre ne m'ont trop touché. Mais j'ame bien Hellfire Club (quoiqu'en fait, y'a pas tellement de titres que je pourrais citer comme ça, je devrais le réécouter pour me refaire une opinion) et j'ai adoré Rocket Ride.

EDGUY frontman Tobias Sammet has tapped KISS/ALICE COOPER drummer Eric Singer to play on the upcoming third installment of his solo project AVANTASIA.

"We've recorded the drums in Hamburg at Vox Klangstudio, where we recorded the drums of EDGUY's 'Hellfire Club' too," says Sammet. "Great room, great equipment!

"Eric is a killer drummer and a cool guy to work with. It is really exciting to hear his interpretation of European-style metal. It definitely adds something fresh and unique to the sound, mainly because he's got a different approach to that kind of music. And although he doesn't do it with ALICE COOPER, KISS and SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS' solo band: There IS fast double-bass shit on AVANTASIA, and Eric did a great job!!! You'll hear it, it's fantastic.

"Anyway, listening to the material so far I can really say that even though the new AVANTASIA will be a different conceptual story, the ambition remains the same: To create something epic and big! Or how Eric put it, 'Let's make some kewl music!' No doubt, the spirit of AVANTASIA is there — in every note."

EDGUY frontman Tobias Sammet has set "The Scarecrow" as the title of the third installment of his AVANTASIA solo project. The album is being produced by Sascha Paeth, who also played the rhythm guitar on the CD. The drums were laid down by KISS/ALICE COOPER drummer Eric Singer and the bass is being handled by Tobias himself.

Commented Sammet: "I am right now in the studio doing some vocal sessions. In about two weeks I am going to fly to England to work with a friend of mine on some vocals.

"Fans and record companies who are interested always ask me for the names of my guest musicians. I want you all to know that I am blessed to work with the best musicians, but I don't believe in making names more important than the music itself. I am working with some childhood heroes of mine and most important, with great personalities, true friends, and the greatest musicians you can think of.

"Producer Sascha and I just checked some new recordings and I have the feeling, that this is the strongest stuff we have ever worked on. It's hard to describe the material in a few words — it sounds very powerful, bombastic, very organic and alive. People who loved especially AVANTASIA Part 1 will love this one, although this time there is a lot more variation in style on there as well. Of course it's a metal album, but we even didn't stop at including some Celtic world music elements. But all that matters to me is that the music has to touch the soul and I swear to God: This material goes straight to your soul, because that's where it comes from. Sounds cheesy, but it's true. I am giving you my everything with this record and you will hear that in late summer!"

Qu'il nous ponde une tuerie, j'aimerais y croire, oh oui, j'aimerais, mais vu ce qu'a donné le deuxième épisode...
Et au niveau des invités, si c'est pour leur laisser les miettes et s'accaparer encore une fois 99 % des parties chant, je vois pas l'intérêt, en dehors de satisfaire son côté fanboy ainsi que son ego.

j ai aussi envie de croire à cet avantasia, le premier opus étant certainement le meilleur boulot que Sammet nous ait jamais fourni.
