German progressive metallers VANDEN PLAS have issued the following update via their official web site:

"The recordings for the next VANDEN PLAS album, 'Christ 0', will finally start mid-October in the Bazement Studios (where the band already recorded 'Beyond Daylight'). The band will probably record nine songs, plus one bonus track. Out of the nine selected songs, four are written by Stephan [Lill, guitar], three by Günter [Werno, guitar] and two by Andy [Kuntz, vocals]. As usual, Andy was also responsible for all the lyrics. As stated before, 'Christ 0' will be a concept album based on Alexandre Dumas' 'Monte Cristo'. No exact release date has been confirmed yet, but it is likely to come out around March/April 2006.

"On the 25th of February 2006, the musical 'Abydos' will be played the first time at the Pfalztheater in Kaiserslautern. About 12 other dates will follow. Based on the 'Abydos' album, the theater play will also contain a few VANDEN PLAS songs. Andy will play the main character 'Fly', and Günter will write the arrangements for the musical. An ensemble with more than 50 persons will be involved. The castings will start soon and the first rehearsals will take place in January 2006. The play was chosen by the city of Kaiserslautern as its official cultural contribution for the football world cup 2006. Apart from that, there will also be around eight new dates of 'Jesus Christ Superstar' (featuring Andy as Judas, and the rest of VANDEN PLAS performing along with the orchestra) in April 2006 at the Pfalztheater.

Cool, le gratteux est enfin rétabli donc (je crois qu'après ses problèmes articulaires à la main il se l'était cassé peu de temps avant d'entrer n studio)

L'exemple type du groupe dont j'ai beaucoup de mal à écouter leurs disques tant la voix m'insupporte. Par contre quand je les avais vu sur scène, ça passait mieux, la voix était bien moins audible. Dommage, je me souviens que musicalement certaines trucs m'avaient attiré; mais rien à faire.

C'est bizarre, moi j'adore la voix d'Andy. Elle a un petit quelque chose qui m'émeut.

De toutes facons Vanden Plas et moi c'est une longue histoire...

Pareil. Sa voix me touche : belle, calme, chaleureuse...
De toute façon je ne suis pas objectif sur Vanden Plas.

Arf, tous les Progueux du coin qui sortent de leur cachette...

J'apprécie justement le côté pas trop prog de Vanden Plas, contrairement à DT ou Andromeda...

Si les "progueux" ne viennent pas poster sur ce topic, il risque pas d'y avoir beaucoup de réponses

If you want to do justice to the significance of prog metal act Vanden Plas from Kaiserslautern, it doesn’t really make sense to restrict yourself to their accomplishments in Germany alone. The band surrounding vocalist Andreas Kuntz have succeeded in making a name for themselves on an international level, enjoy almost cult status in France, have been touring all over Europe with established acts like Dream Theater, Savatage or Angra and can point to a number of impressive releases, among them four studio albums, a live cut, an unplugged recording, and several EPs. With their latest offering, Christ.0, Vanden Plas once again emphasise their leading position on the international prog scene, opening an exciting new chapter in their band history.

Christ.0 contains ten brand-new prog metal tracks which stand out with their brilliant melodies, exquisite instrumental passages and intelligent arrangements. Their fifth studio work is a concept piece witch is inspired by Alexandre Dumas novel ‘The Count of Monte Cristo’.

C'est vrai ! Mais j'aime beaucoup VdP (mais je suis pas objectif sur ce groupe de toute façon, je les aime, point).

Moi j'ecoute là, et c'est du tout tout bon, déjà on a des extraits assez long, et y a de la qualité, Silently particulièrement, Christ 0 aussi allez, c'est bien dans la lignée Vanden Plas, prog avec cette touche mélodique et la voix de Kuntz toujours aussi prenante

Oups, la journée fut longue...

Enfin, comme dit noise, c'est du tout bon ! Au niveau mélodique j'adhère à 100%, hyper plaisant, ça coule tout seul. Question musique, à vue de nez, ça sera sûrement un des albums de Prog-Metal de l'année. Pas spécialement original à priori, mais un truc léché, au top, et très attractif.

Première écoute de la bête au complet, c'est du tout tout bon, mais plus dense et moins accessible qu'avant, il n'y a à première vue pas de tube du niveau "Rainmaker" ou "Inside Of Your Head".

J'ai l'impression que la parenthèse Abydos, en plus d'être un bon album, a fait du bien au groupe...

Même remarques que Vikash pour moi, et c'est pas prise de tete comme je l'ai crains un peu, ça reste parfaitement ecoutable, content de retrouver Vanden plas en forme

Et moi... je suis vert de ne l'avoir encore écouté !
