Legendary Anglo-Australian hard rockers AC/DC will enter a studio in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada in May, presumably to begin recording their first new material since 2008's "Black Ice" album. In addition, the band will celebrate its 40th anniversary this year by playing 40 shows around the world.

The news of AC/DC's recording and touring plans was revealed earlier today (Friday, February 14) by the band's lead singer, Brian Johnson, during a surprise phone call he gave to Andy Preston of the 98.7 The Gater radio station in West Palm Beach, Florida (hear audio below).

Asked if AC/DC is planning to do anything this year, Johnson told Preston: "Well, you'll be the first one to know, really, because we've been denying anything, 'cause we weren't sure. One of our boys was pretty ill, so we didn't like to say anything, and we're very private about things like this, so we didn't wanna say anything. But I think we'll be going in the studio in May in Vancouver. Which means, we should be getting ready.

"It's been 40 years of the band's existence, so I think we're gonna try to do 40 gigs, 40 shows, to thank the fans for their undying loyalty. I mean, honestly, our fans are just the best in the world, and we appreciate every one of them. So, like I said, we'll have to go out, even though we're getting a bit long in the tooth. [laughs]"

He added: "You know what?! It's been four years [since we last went out on the road], and I'm really looking forward to it."

Brian Johnson, the flamboyant frontman of the rock band AC/DC, has debunked rumours that the band are about to split up following concerns for the health of one of the members. Instead, he revealed that the band are still planning to get together and write material for a prospective new album.
"We are definitely getting together in May in Vancouver," he told the Telegraph.

Après le torrent de rumeurs qui a balayé la toile depuis le début de la semaine selon lequel la santé de Malcolm Young forcerait AC/DC à prendre sa retraite, le groupe vient de publier le communiqué suivant sur sa page facebook officielle :

"Après 40 années de vie dédiées à AC/DC, le guitariste et membre fondateur Malcolm Young se retire de ses activités au sein du groupe à cause de problèmes de santé. Malcolm souhaiterait remercier les fans du monde entier pour leur soutien inconditionnel.

AC/DC demande à ce que la vie privée de Malcolm et de sa famille soit respectée. Le groupe continuera à faire de la musique."

Dans une interview exclusive donnée par le chanteur Brian Johnson au magazine The Telegraph, AC/DC a toujours pour projet de se retrouver au mois de mai à Vancouver pour enregistrer un nouvel album.

Legendary Anglo-Australian hard rockers AC/DC have completed work on their new studio album, due later in the year. The group's lead singer Brian Johnson revealed to TeamRock Radio earlier today that he and his bandmates have toyed with the idea of calling the CD "Man Down" in reference to guitarist Malcolm Young's health problems which have forced him to take a break from AC/DC.

AC/DC's new effort was laid down over a series of recording sessions with producer Brendan O'Brien in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. "It was brilliant over there," Johnson said.

"We're done. I'm very excited and we've got some great songs.

"I wanted to call the album 'Man Down'. But it's a bit negative and it was probably just straight from the heart. I like that."

C'est enfin officiel ! AC/DC sortira son nouvel album le 1er décembre prochain ! Ce dernier s'intitulera "Rock Or Bust" et proposera onze nouveaux titres. Il a été enregistré à Vancouver au printemps 2014, produit par Brendan O' Brien et mixé par Mike Fraser (ndlr : "Black Ice", précédent album du groupe, avait subi le même traitement). Par ailleurs, le communiqué officiel a confirmé que la santé de Malcolm Young ne s'était pas améliorée et que ce dernier ne ré-intégrait pas le groupe. C'est donc aujourd'hui officiel : Stevie Young, le neveu de Malcolm et Angus tient la guitare rythmique sur le nouvel album et accompagnera le groupe en tournée quand celle-ci débutera, en 2015. Pour rappel, Stevie avait déja remplacé Malcolm en 1988 sur la tournée américaine du groupe.

"Play Ball", l'un des morceaux de ce nouvel opus, sera dévoilé (en extrait) le 27 septembre prochain par l'intermédiaire de la chaîne Turner Sports qui utilisera la chanson dans sa campagne de publicité pour les playoffs de la ligue de baseball américaine.
