Green Carnation - A Night Under The Dam DVD 2006`s most spectacular concert DVD is now ready for release! We are offering our Norwegian fans and fans in the USA the exclusive 1st edition of Green Carnation's "A Night Under The Dam". The first pressing is 1000 copies and will be sold only in Norway and through The End Records mail order (limited to approx 100 copies in the USA). We are planning a February 2007 release for the DVD, but already today you can pre-order your copy through The End Records, and if you are among the 100 first to order, you will get your copy in December - if not, you will have your chance in February when its released elsewhere. Please note that this is a PAL only DVD release - Region free (plays in all regions)."

Ayé, il est sorti. Ils jouent tout "The Acoustic Verses" (pas dans l'ordre de l'album) et 2 autres chansons (Transparent Me et Six Ribbons), avec un quartet à cordes.

Les + :
A priori le son est bon (une seule écoute sur l'ordi sous le casque pour l'instant, la télé et l'ampli sont squattés), le quatuor à cordes s'entend bien, le lieu donne une sacrée ambiance, la prestation est au poil (du moins sur ce que j'en ai vu pour l'instant), y a du stéréo et du 5.1

Les - :
Peuvent pas faire des concerts long ? 1h à peine, comme leur précédent dvd (Alive and well...)
Dolby Digital Stéréo ou 5.1, je chipote mais j'aurais préféré du PCM stéréo et du DTS 5.1, mais là c'est vraiment pour faire chier
L'image en 4/3, encore que vu le lieu, ça se justifie (y a qu'à voir sur la pochette)

Niveau bonus, des galeries photos (celles du barrage sont jolies, les autres sont plus traditionnelles) et un documentaire sur la préparation du concert, sous-titré en anglais (et en 16/9 lui !)

Bref, c'est quand même du tout bon, achetez-le (19.99 € ici, pas très cher, par contre, faut aimer the acoustic verses )

Parce là je suis en train de me faire la disco du groupe et j'aime beaucoup... Encore un groupe qui doit le faire en concert, ça.

Bah perso je l'ai trouvé au furet du nord (à Lille, ça aide, y a des vrais vendeurs qui connaissent leur rayon ^^) y en avait plusieurs, ça doit être trouvable par des moyens normaux un peu partout donc. (du moins dans les bons magasins, je l'ai pas vu à la fnac tiens )

The most recent lineup of Norway's GREEN CARNATION has officially split up. The group's statement on the matter reads as follows:

"Although releasing the amazing concert DVD 'A Night Under The Dam' earlier this year, the band felt drained of energy after the miserable organized USA tour put together by The End Records and their booking agent. The End Records, being one of the main supporters of the band the last years, bringing hope back to GREEN CARNATION's view on the music business, left the band with broken promises, huge debts, theft of license money and a poor organized tour draining the band for energy. The band doesn't blame The End Records for all of its problems, but they made a bad situation worse by first giving the tour a green light when the conditions for the tour were doomed from the beginning and then later withdraw license money, merchandise money, merchandise and not paying the band or its sound engineer, leaving the band in debts. All of which could have been avoided by cancelling the tour before it started. The End Records lost money on the tour as well, so why it wasn't cancelled when the contracts for the tour were offered to the label, is a unanswered question.

"The deal for the tour was that GREEN CARNATION would cover the flights to and from the USA, while the rest of the tour would be covered by The End Records and tour income. But in the end, the band covered the flights, their own fee, the fee of the sound engineer, some of the gas and hotel expenses during the tour, and paid for CDs that were sold during the tour. On top of that The End Records withdrew the license money from the last album, took all the merch money and the CDs to cover their own losses. What The End Records had to gain from sending the band across the world, driving across the continent of America twice, just to come to a town where the local promoter haven't been seen around for the last four months, or arrive at clubs that don't even know you are coming, to clubs where the local promoter put up another show because the booking agent never replied to their booking confirmation so instead they went ahead and booked other tours on the same date.

"In the end, it made the band members avoid live situations, tours and business partners. The band members felt they had little or nothing to give anymore, and I don't blame them. I saw where we were heading and it wasn't where we wanted to be at, so instead of ending up with a mediocre album, we decided to call it quits after the most spectacular release we have produced so far, 'A Night Under the Dam' on DVD.

"[GREEN CARNATION leader] Tchort will continue writing music under the name GREEN CARNATION, but probably will never play live again with the band."

Me semble qu'ils ont toujours un album studio à sortir eux, du moins d'après ce qui était écrit dans le livret des Acoustic Verses.

Pour ceux qui se demandent si le live vaut le coup, et bien oui, il vaut le coup, surtout maintenant qu'on sait qu'il risque d'être le dernier (et que le live at Krakow est pas terrible en terme de réalisation). C'est un live très intimiste, qui mise évidemment plus sur la magie individuelle que sur les gros moyens, mais qui réussit justement à éviter d'être trop léger et amateur.

Le groupe s'est reformé et a donné un concert le 31/07 en Norvège dans un barrage
